Oh nasty! Heal quick and take pain killers.
Fell over Friday afternoon on one of my last skiing runs in Austria and (unknown to me until this morning) broke my hand and arm - ouch. I was wearing my G-shock on the outside of my jacket (wet suit style) and felt it dig into my hand as I went down. I knew I'd done something nasty but as I was travelling home the next day I thought I'd wait for the inevitable trip to the Hospital until then, thinking the most likely result was a bad sprain.
Anyway, after a fairly painful journey home and not much sleep either the outcome was a broken hand and arm; one of the carpals and a very clean fracture across the head of the radius.
This was taken yesterday before the flight home.....
I've tried wearing a watch today on my right wrist but I felt like I had my underpants on the outside of my trousers so it looks like 6 weeks without one.....

Oh nasty! Heal quick and take pain killers.
wow, that looks painful, speedy recovery and at least it was just a minor injury, as we know Skiing can be a very dangerous sport.
Get well soon big foot........I mean, big hand. That looks painful.
Looks nasty.
I'm with you about wearing a watch on the right (wrong) wrist.

Wanted - Damasko DC57
Thanks guys; I've got a half plaster slab at the minute due the swelling and got to go back on Thursday for a proper cast. Broken foot last year after getting knocked off my motorbike and now this.
Anyone fancy a game of cards?
Youch! Take it easy big (hand) fella!
Get well soon mate. Looks painful!.
Jaysus...that looks very tender. Hope you heal up well!
How's the watch
Holy smokes buddy, that looks painful
Perhaps you need to draw a watch on your cast?! You can have whatever you want
If it's good enough for Lewis Hamilton's gloves, it is fine on Gary's cast
Extra links ?
Ouch!
Hope you feel better soon.
I had to teach myself to wear a watch on the right due to nerve damage on the left - you get used to it after a few weeks
Boysoboys
thats looks and reads sore
you got time on yer hands then
boom boom :0

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Looks bad from the pic... take care of yourself fella.
Where did you have it plastered The Manor lol
Oh my that looks so painful.
Ouch! Get well soon mate.
Gary, no watches and no bikes! Now that's a really bad combo! Get well soon buddy.
That looks super painful. If you can't stand a watch on the other wrist, maybe it's time to cultivate a collection of vintage pocket watches.
That looks sore, wishing you a speedy recovery
At least you did it on the last day and in a proper manly way!
Also flying home pre hospital gets you extra man points, just need to mention it was at least a black run!
GWS
Ooh yeah... Take it steady... Use your left ankle??? Certainly more appropriate than your right wrist!
That looks nasty. Wishing you a quick recovery as said there is always the other arm for some watch action
I do sympathise, I had tendonitis in my left wrist last month (De Quervain's tendonitis to be precise) and had to wear a neoprene support. I had to keep it on for four weeks and wore a watch on my right wrist during this time. I found that only the lighest, smallest watches were tolerable and even after 4 weeks it still didn't feel right.
How about a gasgasbones Nasa velcro moonwatch strap ? If it fits over a spacesuit it'll fit over your plaster cast. Take it easy.

You're all Weirdo's! Worn my watch on my right wrist since I was about 4 (I'm a leftie and tend to use my left arm to stop doors, hammer in nails, for tennis and squash etc so there is logic there!) - seriously that looks really painful, get well soon. You could try that 58mm panerai you've always wanted I guess, although it might look a bit girly on your Chewbacca paw!
Ouch indeed! Speedy recovery to ya
That looks like Capt Kirk's jab reaction hands in the modern Star Trek film!
You're all heart you lot - lol!
Seriously though, thanks for the well wishes.
Two days on and it looks like I'm now turning into a chimpanzee!
They could only fit a half plaster due to the swelling; got to go back on Thursday for a proper cast if its gone down.
I had a right b*ll*cking from the Doc!

Are you going to the match on Sunday I think nearly all the population of Walsall is.
Paul
He used to live just round the corner from me, many moons ago now. My first team are The Toffees but Walsall was my home town and where I watched my footie at a very early age. Never thought they would get to Wembley in my time. It's going to be a ghost town this weekend. Get well soon.

Nasty. I had a fall 50 meters from the last run of my trip this year and ended up with a mild concussion, whiplash and a lot of bruises. I feel very lucky after seeing that!
That first pic looks horrendous, like your hand is going to explode!
Speedy recovery.
Wow good luck with that, yeah when you stop and think, skiing is rather dangerous, touching wood... Are you sure your hand is getting enough blood circulation? The color of your fingers seems changed from the first pic.
Thanks but yes, my circulation is fine - the colour difference is due to all the bruising that is now quite apparent all over my arm below the elbow. I'll take another pic if I get chance when the half plaster comes off on Thursday.
Skiing is dangerous and I do like to ski fast as well which doesn't help - the reality however is I had a few more visually catastrophic falls during the week and remained unscathed yet a fairly innocuous tumble resulted in this!
My dad has decided next year is the last time he does his annual ski trip, he recently tried snowboarding and keeps getting told off for not wearing a helmet. He's 71!
Where there's a will.......
Not the best of looks though I grant you!
This was the watch I was wearing at the time. A keeper obviously..
Good man! Looks quite good actually, mend soon.
Wishing you a pleasant and pain-free Easter!
Obviously a keeper. Hope you are well on your way to a full recovery.
I like that look! Great to see you are on the mend.
