And some general shots taken in New York City...
Well, I got back yesterday, and have uploaded a few (well, quite a few) photos from my trip. I should say at the outset that virtually all of them were taken on my iPhone (it was too cold to take my gloves off in order to fiddle with my camera) and pretty much everything, and more, is on my Instagram account at @TonyinHerts. Anyway...
Long Island, where my ex and her husband were kind enough to accommodate me at either end of my visit...
A very snowy Central Park...
The Freedom Tower (now officially renamed One World Trade centre) and WTC Memorial...
Continued below...
Really enjoyed those thanks,i'm amazed how good the cameras are on the Iphones and the apps available to tweak the images a smidge.Very atmospheric.
Excellent post.... some of those bring back a few memories.... I have been to NYC a few times during December/January.... really nice...
thank you...

Really nice pics, thank you for sharing.
There's a lot of great architecture crammed into Manhattan and the Flatiron has to be one of my personal favourites. Some nice atmospheric pictures there.
Some good shots - thanks for that.
B
Some great shots there - thanks
Thanks for posting these, Tony. I think these are my two favourite.
great pictures of a great city; hopefully it will be warmer when i get there in April.
You know Tony, I would have never guessed from your watch pictures, but you're actually pretty good with a camera :)
Thanks for sharing.
Some fantastic shots Tony… I love the subway image, captures city life. My favourite is probably the Liquor Store sign. Fantastic colours on that one.
I have added you on Instagram now - hope thats OK!
Great pics.
While we're on the subject, The Guardian published some great contrasting ones of NY from the 70s and 80s yesterday.

Beautiful. I'd love to visit in winter.
some nice pictures Tony, brings back memories of my latest trip there,
I have so many shots with a very similar perspective,
Did you intentionally capture the plane reflection on One World trade center? I looked up and saw the same, quite a sombre place
Some lovely shots. Well overdue a visit to New York.
Great pictures. Thanks for posting those :-)
lovely pics man!
especially like Flatiron and Liqour Store!
Terrific stuff, have many similar pics myself. Well, the same shots, not the same quality
(Note to self: one day I really must visit NYC in summer!)
fantastic photos! Just booked a flight to NYC for next week :)
Great pics - make me want to go back again.
Which watch shops did you visit in the end?
if you guys like New York, you should also try visiting Chicago. Much undervisited by non-US tourists.
Home of the skyscraper with some wonderful architecture to take photos of.
Great pics as usual Tony, think I found you on Instagram (hope you don't mind) I was out in NY in the summer, love the place & can't wait to get back. Like you most of my pics were with my iPhone, so much easier sometimes.
Brad
Enjoyed looking at them.Great clarity and composition.
Very nice pics.. makes we want to visit NYC this summer.. it's been long overdue..
@NikosF Thanks. Will keep your suggestion of adding Chicago to the itenerary while planning ..
Some wonderful shots there, brings back memories of our trip there in October.
Thanks for sharing, Tony - some very artistic and atmospheric scenes there. Nice to see something different from the norm. I've never been to NY, but would love to go.
Out of interest, what is the triangular-shaped (from above), narrow, old building that appears in a few of these photos? It looks very interesting. I also like the gothic-style church in the middle of the modern buildings in the photo with the clock in the foreground and Citibank behind - it reminds me of Ghostbusters !
I hope you enjoyed the trip and that it wasn't too traumatic.
Best wishes,
Andrew.
It's the very appropriately named Flatiron Building.
Very evocative.
I like the sombre tranquillity.
Last time I was there was around this time of year - I remember it being bitterly cold but the sky was very clear.
Thanks for posting.
Tony,
Looks like a very pleasant trip and some amazing images, you have a great eye
I love the Flat Iron building, amongst the ever chaining skyline in NY the old classic still looks amazing.
And
I was there during the polar vortex last January and those pictures have brought back a few memories, I must have walked the same route through central park as you did Tony. What happened to Pier 17? It was there last year!
Wow the are amazing. I have never been to New York but your pictures have outfit on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing.
Great photos, was there very end of November/early December and loved it. The photos brought back some great memories. Thank you.
Great pics, love NYC, hope you have tried Carnegie deli? Some SERIOUS portions!! There's also a cool little independent watch place around the side of the hall - a proper higgledy piggledy treasure trove! I'm also with kssantosh on Chicago, great city :)
Actually, I went all the way downtown just to visit South Street Seaport, and it was in the middle of a total redevelopment... very annoying!
Barely any, as I found myself almost disinterested while I was over there. I did pop into the Seiko boutique and a branch of Torneau, although the sales assistant in the former was driving me nuts (and she wouldn't stop, so I had to leave).
We were there end of November it was cold then but that looks a whole lot colder. It's such an iconic city so many beautiful buildings.
