Thanks Alphafloor - a great collection.
As I suggested it I suppose I'd better participate - will get some pics tomorrow!
Thanks, alpha ... if this thread works out as envisaged, it will be known as the "thread of pain" for milwatch aficionados.

Problem with your Photobucket, Ian? ["This file no longer exists" is what I get when I click on your link].
Some interesting stuff - are those ATPs?Originally Posted by IanD

Hi Alphafloor - yes, here's a closer picture. Are the white dials of yours mainly ATPs?Originally Posted by Alphafloor

IanD - Thanks for the clarification on exactly what you have there.
To collect that many watches must have taken you quite some time!
Any chance of some closer pictures of the 6B/159 collection?
I will scan them when I am home at the W/EOriginally Posted by Alphafloor

Many thanks Ian, I had no idea so many makers made 6B/159s - I was only aware of Omega, Longines and (I think?) JLC.

IanD Thank you for those pictures. You really have some fantastic watches.
I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, but there were seven manufacturers of the 6B/159;
Omega
Longines
JLC
LeCoultre
Movado
Cyma
Ebel
I do like the Longines (both)
Thanks

It was his pictures of the Dirty Dozen that started me on the slippery slope. I'm currently trying to ignore the voices telling me to collect 6B's. :xOriginally Posted by IanD

Although there have been many that have come and gone ( Benrus Types 1 & 2, IDF Eterna Kontiki, Heuer Bundeswehr Chronos, Blancpain Bundesmarine, to name a few but I am very happy with my collection as it stands Right now.

Martyn, lovely pics of some fantastic watches! You have inspired me to start searching again for an old Seamaster!
My military watch collection is biased towards divers. I have one very rare piece coming in October, otherwise this is how it looks. I hate group photos and did take one, but it's too damned wide. So I'm posting by country groups. Not pictured is a Suunto Vector issued to an operator and gifted to me for services rendered.
Here are my UKers:
The Americans:
Ze Germans:
and Israel/France/Czechoslovakia:
Future directions? Precista, Sinn EZM-1/2, RAN Certina, Heuer Bund chrono, and of course a RN Sub are all on the list. Dunno if I'll ever be able to afford the Rolex, but it's on the list.
Having got the the "Dirty Dozen" a good mil SM300 and sub must be be next.Originally Posted by martynw

All very, very nice gents.
Varies massively with manufacturer and quality of the watch. A rough guide to what I have found for good examples;Originally Posted by hogthrob

Longines - £600
IWC - £1500

Definitely not to be used as a concise guide. You also have differences with dial variations, so a IWC NATO dialed watch will probably cost you more for example.

Very nice collections, compliments.
Here are some quick shots of my watches.
Very nice collections, gents!
I'm back to a dial-up connection temporarily - so no pics, but you can view my mil collection here. AFIK, I have all the Stocker & Yale model numbers (unless you happen to have a P550 to sell me?). Also a very clean Marathon-Gallet; the rest are fairly common.
Now this is what I would call a thread.
One of the best ever.
Thanks for posting so much valuable information and images.
Adrian.
Some absolutely gorgeous Watches here.
Some magnificent watches there gents.
Here's my previous collection - now all sold apart from one GSTP watch
A Heuer Bund, Laco B-uhr & Kadlec compass, Lemania single button, JLC WWW, Omega RAF,
and several GSTP watches.
Gone, I'm afraid.
