Any good ideas for a new smart coat? im a bit bored with what i have, barbour dept b skyfall jobby, barbour powell quilted, ted baker quilted are the ones i wear most, and i have just taken delivery of this hackett velospeed:
http://www.hackett.com/catalog/produ...ry/5/?color=59
but not sure if ill keep it,
its lovely, but not sure if its quite smart enough,
basically im looking for something that bridges the gap between formal wool overcoat and something more casual while still being smart
any suggestions?

Something like this? You can get ones with out the buttons. Goes without saying if you can wait 30 days or so, you will be able to get them at sale price.

I misread the title and thought you needed a "Fur Coat".
I was going to suggest a Donkey Jacket.

Got to be Harris tweed, with elbows and a shotgun patch. you know you want one!
Last three for me have been Gloverall, Churchill reefer, sports and London Mac. Cracking quality and fit and made in Blighty.
I also purchased a Tucanno Urbano Cottage Blazer in the spring, which is tailored Italian scooter wear. Really smart practical and only 99 quid. Give em a look, functional yet smart with tie and trousers.
Like you OP jacket wardrobe has ToKiTo, UJ Barbour, Belstaff, Covert and Musto tweed shooting jacket. New one every year and of course one out to the bay.
This year I will treat myself to a Canada Goose.

£300 for a polyester jacket by Hackett which is almost definitely made in China - rather you than me. Have you thought about paying a trip to Kevin & Howlin or Magee to see what they've got in Donegal tweed? No doubt their prices only start at that level but what you buy will probably outlive you. They have lots of tweeds available that don't necessarily make you look like one of the landed gentry (even if they did mostly get burned out in the twenties) though some may necessitate going down the mad-to-measure route.
