I have a speedmaster reduced, that has seen better days. It is missing a pusher, and no longer runs.
What's it worth as it stands?
If I had it fully serviced and repaired by omega back to scratch, how much do you reckon it would cost??
And would it make it worthwhile???

A couple of people have asked for pics, this is the best one I have.
In fairness it's in good cosmetic nick.
Im under the impression it will be £4-500 for an absolute back to new service etc with crown, pushers, crystal and of course 2 years warranty.
I allowed £500 in p/x knowing full well it didn't work but secretly hoping (dreaming) that it'd magically work lol.
Now, if it's gonna be worth £1000 or nearby, I'll have the work done and keep it, happy in the knowledge that if I did flip my loss would be minimal if at all.
There's no money to be made, I knew that at the beginning!
An Omega service would be £470. I do believe this would include new pushers, crown and Hesalite.
STS include pushers, crown and hesalite crystal as part of their service. They would be slightly cheaper at around £430.
IMHO, it would be worth getting done. £970 would be a good price for a newly serviced Speedy Reduced.
Edit. Duncan at Genesis would also be an option.

Thanks for the info/advice
I've decided to have it repaired. If I have it fixed, it's something nice to wear and IF I flip, any loss will be negligible compared to usage.
The question is who to use? I've used Duncan in the past but he had a 6 month waiting list.
How do STS and Omega compare?
Anybody know how long it will take???
Would they replace the dial?
AFAIK, neither will replace the dial as part of the service. STS will take about 6-8 weeks. They are great to deal with and their customer service is first class. They serviced my Speedy Pro and they also supplied and fitted the mitsukoshi dial and handset replacement (at extra cost) at the same time. The Speedy has been sold since but Simon at STS was very helpful indeed. He even took photos of the whole service.
I think Swatch group services time frames are very similar if not a bit longer.
I did like the 'personal' touch that STS offered and I feel that they would be very quick at rectifying any future problems should they arise. I'm sure Omega would do the same but STS are much smaller compared to Swatch!
I would have it serviced, but don't hold your breath selling it for 970 pounds. Keep it and wear it in good health.
I sold my mint Speedmaster Reduced with B/P for 950 euro's and it took me more than two months.
The reduced is not a very popular model, and although the movement itself is easy to service, the piggy-back DD chronomodule isn't. It's mostly swapped for a new one which makes a service for this particular model rather expensive.
Value wise it's below the other automatic Speedies with the sapphire crystal, which also have better bracelets and the more robust Valjoux 7750-movement.
My advice is to find a cheaper but skillful independent, who can fix it for around £200 or so.
I'm with everyone above, have it done because you like it but don't expect to see a profit in the long run.
I'd have it done by an independent just to be a very small part of the protest vote against Swatch group and their policy of trying to cut the small specialists out of the loop where servicing is concerned.
Congratulations - its looks fantastic!
Looks great... :)
That looks an amazing job! Looks so good on the wrist.
Looks like a top notch job!
Looks great, enjoy your Speedy!
Looks great well worth the effort, enjoy!
That was well worth doing in the end!! with the £500 trade and the £480 service!! £980 all in for a speedy with a fresh Omega service and the 2 years warranty that comes with it!! thats gotta be good!!!
Chris
I'm surprised the reduced isn't more popular tbh, I love mine. I flip between the bracelet and an Omega black croc/deployant and it looks great either way.
I reckon people overlook the reduced too easily.
I own one of these and I`m a big fan. The full-size Speedy moonwatch wears too big for my likeing, I`m happier with the size of the reduced and it captures the style of the moonwatch sufficiently well to keep me happy.
As for the service cost, it isn`t cheap but the cost of the parts would be significant for a non-accredited independent (or someone like me). If a watch needs several movement parts it can sometimes make sense to send it to Omega.
Paul
I imagine you are very pleased with that. Looks like they have done a very thorough and professional job.
Looks nice, I would take your name and phone number off the invoice though.Arrived today!!
Beautiful, and one of the very few chronographs I like. At around £1000 for a refurbished Speedmaster I'd consider it good value.
The Automatic always appealed to me more then the hand wound not least because of the convenience.

Great looking watch and nice to see Omega knows how to treat our beauties without any hassle..
Best,
Guillermo
The watch looks absolutely superb, congratulations
I think that the £489 will prove a sound investment.
That's a real beauty.
The service was not cheap, but looks like it was well worth the money.
Congrats on this great looking Speedmaster.
