Knew I shouldn't have opened this thread, some very nice bikes and making me envis. Don't have a pic at hand but have a Cube attempt with 105, q rings and mavic wheels... The problem is the "engine" on the saddle is a bit rubbish.
Tempted to go and steal that KOM :)
I'd rather have a gorgeous bike than be fast...
We have a debate with the lads I ride with, some of them identify a segment and ride it hard to get ranked or a KOM whereas I always just ride how I feel or how the trg ride dictates and if I nail a KOM its true plus all PB's are real trg PBs and show me I am getting stronger.
How many have you guys got?
Got this Cross bike for my daily commute and boy is it strong. Not as light as a pure road and not as fast. But very durable and sure footed
I ride exactly the same way as you do Kerry and am only really interested in my own progress and that of those I train with. I've had the occasional email telling me somebody has stolen a KOM I never even knew I had and couldn't answer your question because I don't know the answer.
i posted that one just to illustrate the point that it's not necessary to have a fancy bike to have fun or do ok on it. I was shepherding a few newbies up box hill (I don't ride it often at all) and randomly saw a nice little clear bit of road and just rode it to amuse myself. Wasn't targeting a segment nor did I even know it existed.
That is one SEXY machine, absolutely beautiful. I could leave my Orbea hybrid at home and cycle that to work, and I know my colleagues would be gawping. From a purely novices point of view, it seems to me there is more technical engineering going on in bicycles these days than cars. Lovely.
That's standard on a specialized and they do not move at all
Have none at all for 3 reasons...I've only been cycling for 3 months, there are about half a dozen pro cyclists who ride the same routes, and I'm unfit. Did I mention I'm very old as well? I have no shame in telling you that I did blatantly targetted two or three Strava segments to see what I could do and sneaked into the top 10 each time. I suspect the others in there didn't need an oxygen tent or a lie down afterwards though!

.....by this thread has slipped back a few pages, awayway;
I've just ordered this...........and I'm so EXCITED !!!!
Trek Domane 4.3 - First new bike purchase since 1990........back on the road again.
Rule #5 and Rule #9 in full effect at the Ride London 100. Flying the Timefactors colours with the top that Josh organized Was nobody else there?
Looking good there while being a badass!
Well done on the Ride London 86 :)
Is it your hat or head that's squint?
My helmet rarely sits level, not that I wear one very often (oh no, here we go again )
I was there too... had a 7.45 start so ok for the first hour but by the time we were out of London and into Surrey the rain really started. I don't mind a bit of weather and was dressed appropriately but it was a bit silly at times. Given the number of accidents I saw, I think diverting everyone round Leith and Box Hills was pretty sensible - the climbs would have been ok, but 20k people descending would have been a recipe for disaster.
A nice ride and a great route - I don't do many sportives, but getting to ride through town at 40km/h on closed roads is quite a thrill.
I've added some Campag Bullet 50s to my road bike which won't make me any faster, but I like the look.
Some great looking bikes, here's mine...
Frame & Forks: Hewitt steel
Wheels: Mavic Openpro rims with Veloce hubs
Chainset: Campag Centaur
Rear derailleur: Campag Veloce
Front derailleur: Campag Race Triple
Levers: Campag Veloce
Brakes: Shimano
Stem & bars: FSA
Seat: Rolls
Not as light as some/most others on here but it does the job for me...

My Orange Evo8
Just had this delivered yesterday, waiting to give it a decent run over the weekend...
Going to replace the Cannondale Badboy hybrid with 8 speed hub, n+1 is great but don't have enough room to keep them both and my 1986 Bianchi...
Just realised my shoes were attached!
And the next generation is riding a slightly smaller bike, but is more proud than anyone else!
Kenma, that Hewitt is a classic-looking bike, a proper audax/light-tourer. You can't beat the look of slim round steel tubes. Good to see a bike with proper mudguards - very few frames have the clearance and braze-ons to fit them nowadays.
I've just bought my first road bike, unfortunately haven't had time to take off the bubble wrap yet despite having it for over a week! I'm still in need of a lot of kit and number one priority is a new helmet. I've been looking at Kask, but happy to look at other brands. Any suggestions greatly received!
I recently bought a Genesis Volare 20. I've about 150kms put up on it so far and I'm absolutely loving it.
He's a pic of her just after collection. The bell, reflectors and pie plate are now gone!
