Damages
Southland
We've been enjoying "The Following" with Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy.

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Another oldie but goldie perhaps is to revisit "24" with Keifer Sutherland. Good stuff there
other votes go to The Wire, breaking bad, and the West Wing - Curb Your Enthusiasm is also a very good watch
I'm working my way through breaking bad, great stuff, I don't even care that I have a fair idea of what happens.
Luther - scary as hell but brilliant & gripping too
Spiral
Braquo
Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
Bridge
Salamander
Father Ted

Have got to agree with this one, we are currently watching the first series on SKY box set but have the second series on series link, very good indeed and would highly recommend.
Breaking Bad, Dexter, The Mentalist are some other good one that we have either watched or are currently watching
The Shield

The Big Bang Theory

Two and a half men
Copper
Ripper street
The tudors
Rome
Vikings
24
For something hilarious/distasteful (depending on your views)
The Following and Walking Dead have been the shows we have watched recently, but looking forward to the return of Jack Bauer next month.
Hornblower
Sharp
The Good Wife
Mad Men
The Newsroom (best explanation why America isn't the greatest country comes about 5 mins into the first episode!)
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
The West Wing
There is an Aaron Sorkin theme there :o)
If you haven't seen it, nothing comes close to band of brothers. Epic is a trendy word at the moment, but I struggle to find a more fitting one for this masterpiece.
Breaking bad and the wire are next, but both require a little staying power at the beginning.
Then, the rest. I have enjoyed house of cards (frank's a bastard) , justified (very smart writing), sons of anarchy (solid and not the cliche I was expecting) and the shield (was never sure about this one but on reflection was pretty good). At the heart of a good few of these is a relatively small band of extraordinarily talented writers (sutter, yost etc) and actors (Walton goggins is now one of my favorites)
Some great series mentioned, i can certainly vouch for Breaking Bad
I am amazed that no one has mentioned HouseMD, it was the first boxset that i ever watched and I was hooked, did all 8 series in the end.
Also, Parks & Recreation is a charming and seriously funny series, especially if you have ever worked in local government!
Best regards,
Chris
The funniest fly on wall doc series to date.

How I met your mother
I can vouch for breaking bad. Dexter is good as well.
The West Wing
Then watch the West Wing again!
Luther
The Village
Fargo is looking good so far
Homeland
Spooks for a bit of escapism
Just finished watching The Barchester Chronicles on DVD; absolutely superb with compelling performances by Alan Rickman, Nigel Hawthorne, Geraldine McEwan and Donald Pleasance. I remember watching it when it was first shown in 1982 and it was every bit as gripping the second time around.
Just starting the 2nd series of 'Lillyhammer', really enjoyed the 1st one, kind of sopranos esq
Brighty
The wire
We've been watching "Mad Dogs" with John Simm, Philip Glenister, Marc Warren and Max Beesley. A bit wierd at times but a good strong cast and original storyline. David Warner makes an appearance as a baddy and it's very entertaining. Four seasons with 14 episodes in total.

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
House of Cards, the trilogy (House of Cards, To Play the King and The Final Cut) The original of course with Ian Richardson and Diane Fletcher, not the unneeded remake.
F.T.F.A.
Was that the Trinity killer season? I loved the series generally but have to admit the ending was a little dissapointing and not worthy of a great concept and character group.
Otherwise I'm really enjoying Hannibal at the moment with the season 2 finale just shown. Not sure what it is, as its quite gruesome but in a heavily stylised, fantastical way but the pyschological battle between the 3 main characters is compulisve viewing. Also Mads Mikkelsen's range of suits is good enough reason to watch on its own!
Utopia - Probably the most original thing I've seen in years and really gripping and at times unsettling viewing. Season 2 started a few weeks ago on C4 and now we've finsihed watching Breaking Bad will dip into this now.
For me Frasier which ran for eleven seasons (262 episodes), is brilliant writing and execution. Compulsive viewing!
Yes, and Fargo. Great cast, great performance and despite being a remake of a modern classic movie it still felt fresh and original.
Banshee has it's moments!
Triangle
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Prison Break, four seasons of excellence.
Flying through Justified at the minute after finally starting it. Really enjoying it.
The shield and game of thrones are next.
Oh and Archer is awesome.
Highly recommend Lilyhammer too

Justified is excellent, I'm going cold turkey waiting for season 6.
Far better than that Breaking Bad tripe
