It's dead easy, Ryan - I've done dozens myself. It's a bit daunting, first time, but once you've got the knack, it's literally a 5 minute job. It is possible to polish out lighter scratches in a Seiko Hardlex crystal, but it really isn't worth the time, effort (and potential cost in polishing materials) - not for a common-or-garden flat round crystal like this one, particularly when you can get an almost identical appearing replacement off the shelf. I'd only consider polishing a couple of the obsolete NLA double-domed crystals found on other more obscure Seiko 7Axx models and then only as a last resort.
A high street jeweller will try to charge you upwards of 25 Quid to replace that crystal - and I doubt he'd go to the effort of finding that Sternkreuz - more likely just bang in any old 32.0mm Ø x 1.5mm generic mineral glass without the polished bevelled edge of the original. For that money you could buy the crystal AND a press to install it with - then you're set up. Alternatively, you could buy the crystal from Cousins and ask if there's a friendly TZ-UKer who lives locally and would fit it for you.

Can you tell it has weird faceted glass? The watch cost me about 4 pounds, the crystal 3 times that... after about 3 months searching :)
Some superb models on show, makes me want to wear a Seiko :)
I changed the crystal on my 7A28 last week and it took me around 15 minutes. I took my time as it was my first attempt but it all went to plan. Must say a big thank you to Paul as it was reading one of his posts that gave me the necessary info to do it.

I have a fondness for Seiko's. Good quality, in-house movement, and great value for money. Here are a few of mine: -
What's not to like?
Best Regards - Peter
I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.
Anyone up for the seiko challenge?
Who can buy the best sub £30 second hand seiko from the bay? Show it here.
The is currently the only Seiko I own.
That's nice, like the strap a lot too. Do you know the model number?
Only one I have. SKX007j on a WJean Super Oyster II
Wish I could pull off the Sumo but I'm afraid it'll dwarf my skinny wrist

...It is an amazingly well put together watch this.
Wow! I feel a bit out of place, i've only ever had 3 watches in my life, all seiko & i still have 2 of them lol. Well below is whats been worn on my wrist since 2001, bit battered, but never let me down.
Thats it tapatalk, just murder my photo!
This one today actually. Lovely glossy black dial and white inlays on the hands and markers makes it a bit different...
