I think the pics in this thread high light the fact that a slim gold dress watch looks superb.
Unfortunately a chunky sports watch in gold, on say a watch such as a Daytona, looks really gauche.
Chunky gold was fashionable during the seventies and let us all be honest, it looked trash.
Can you imagine how hideous a Deep Sea Sea Dweller would look like in 14ct gold.

These two are solid
And these two are plated - they're the ones that started me in this hobby so I'm quite attached to them.
Gold watches make a nice change.
Cheers,
Neil.
Lovely watches. My current grail is the 18k Day Date. Saw one on a Friday thread a few weeks ago and fell in love.
Good enough in steel, but outstanding in gold.
I only have two: Vacheron Constantin ref. 6378 og Patek Philippe ref. 3998.

Pity it's not solid gold.

Hi pacchi - I have a gold rolex with champagne face on a tan croc strap and I think it looks great. One day I will learn how to post pics (on my to do list!)
It looks good on a black lizzard strap - here is the sales thread I got it from (I hope RickChard doesn't mind) http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...ght=gold+rolex but I prefer the tan - a little less dressy

Some Great watches, here are some of my Gold coloured watches, at least one is made of Gold.
It's an Omega DeVille, and as it says on the dial, it was a limited edition of 1000 in yellow gold, 1000 in pink gold and ( I think) 1000 in platinum. The watch dates from 2000. It was the first watch Omega ever released with the Co-axial escapement, and this one is a caliber 2500A, running at 28,800 bph.
Here's a link to an article, if you're interested. http://people.timezone.com/library/t...87724805691831
According to my 19 year old niece, Rose Gold is very much in fashion now, so us old gits will probably catch up in a few years.
my most blingtasitc gold plated number, very rarely makes an appearance but when it does im normally pleasantly surprised by the non-watch idiots comments, personally I love it as a stand out bit of sillyness
Sorry just seen the Glashutte,
Like that even more but wouldn't say no to either.
Is it me or does that rolex have an amazing dome crystal ? Looks superb.
A very special (to me) 1944 Tissot chronograph
