Flipped one of these I had from new, without doubt my biggest "flipping" regret.
Well, I still think so as none of the new 3-4k ceramics have tempted me to move this
And to think these were under a grand just 10 years ago!
Flipped one of these I had from new, without doubt my biggest "flipping" regret.
It's a lot better than the standard blue version that's for sure.
Had one, flipped it soon after buying it. Nothing about it inspired me to wear it, I found it very ordinary.
The new ceramic POs? Now I could look at them all day and marvel at how stunning they are.
I prefer the Non-AC model, but yours comes in a close second.
I prefer this one, but I am biased as it's on my wrist as we speak!
Almost.....I reckon the titanium version's the best:
The 2254 is without a doubt a classic, but again for me the titanium version wins, along with the non-americas cup and those with the white gold bezels, these models just seem to have that little something extra, the 2254 seems quite plain in comparision.
...and even has that 'vinatge' look without having to try too hard. :)
I don't think I like any of the more modern SMP's (even the Planet Oceans).
The new (8500) Aqua Terra models I like - I just wish they came in a 40mm (and slightly slimmer) case.
The 2254 (or the 2264 for the matter) are beautiful looking watches, one of my favourite Seamasters; but not my favourite.
I have a 2594 and think this is the best version due to
a) I just like how it looks and the slightly chunkier case and bracelet... (obviously just my opinion)
b) It has a column wheel movement
c) I've never bumped into anyone else wearing one (but lots wearing 22*4s)
Here's mine taken this evening with my 5s:
Titanium here too.
It's nice but not as nice as the 1000M!
"A man of little significance"
An interesting selection of seamaster. I like the black dial and agree that the titanium version is something special.
Yes the best
My vote would always go to the black ceramic SMP..its a stunning watch
Same here. Bought one after our first son was born. I remember standing in the back yard one evening and just gazing at it, thinking almost everything about it was correct and in harmony. The sword hands and the Speedmaster bracelet brought some focus to the piece that on my opinion was missing (and still is) from the traditional Bond model. There were areas for improvement of course - the crown felt a bit overwhelmed and the bezel was a bugger to turn - but these were small imperfections. The PO has come close to achieving this simplicity and addressed a few flaws while introducing some new ones but for me, sentiments aside, the 2254 will always be the classic modern Seamaster.
I had one for 4 years it was nice and certainly scratched an itch, but far to common for my liking. Mine made way for the PRS2 so I thankful to the piece for that.
How about this one:
2220.80
The last "wavy dial" before the ceramic horror, co axial, 2500 D movement.
Two years as my daily wearer and still in top notch at +2 a day on the wrist.
Diving, hiking, traveling, and on the board room too.
2254.50 for me.
The 2254 may not be the 'best' seamaster but definately the best £875 I ever spent on a watch. An absolute bargain. Bought it from William Pykes and Son which are sadly no more. Favour the OEM rubber over the bracelet.
This one has everything going for it.
To the OP's question; yes. Black wave dial, black bezel, and less dressy oyster type strap. What's not to like.
Mmmm that electric blue is gorgeous!
I have the 2254.50 with both the bond and the speedmaster styles of bracelet.
I think that the speedy style suits the watch much better and is less dressy, however imo the bond is the more comfortable and more solid bracelet.
I love the way the sword hands on my 2264 combine fantastic lume with a beautiful shape; they reflect the light at any angle and are instantly readable in any light conditions:
Wow thanks guys for sharing. I had never seen some of the models shown and I agree the titanium is a beauty but I can never get over the lightness of titanium.
I do like the 8500 POs but find them too expensive and not offering that much of an upgrade in looks from the 2254. Plus there are a bit thick!
I got my SMP as an engagement present whilst in Cannes and remember trying on many different versions. I went in wanting a blue bond but the black sword hands hit me harder and seemed less common back then!
My wife regrets getting me the watch as it accelerated my interest and started me climbing up the cost ladder of luxury mechanical watches. To the point where I am happy to wait for 10 months while Herr Dornbluth builds my first marine deck watch!
I think the gold comes first, then the special edition titanium, then the titanium and then the steel with electric blue :)
Chris
I really like the bond anniversary sea master it isn't so obvious immediately it's a bond watch but I find it pleasing to the eye with the smudge of red
Well said!.........a man after my own heart. Far more subtle than the two-tone Rolex Subs.
I like the look of the solid rose-gold one, but that bezel will pick up marks far too easily in everyday wear.
Removing that bezel would be fun too for some lucky lad when the time comes to refinish it.

what was the RRP of the Omega 2264 before it was discontinued?
+1000 for wavy 2220.80
2nd vote for this beauty
