Greys Anatomy
Ripper St
The Wire - another vote here
Dexter - as mentioned
The Inbetweeners
Band of Brothers and From the Earth to the Moon are simply phenomenal television.
I would also add the recent Battlestar Galactica series - in the very top echelons of the best television drama ever made.
For comedy I would recommend Arrested Development, Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, The Office (US version) and Community.
So clever my foot fell off.
Boardwalk Empire
Game of Thrones
Shameless
All must see
Father Ted
Mrs Brown's Boys
Two And A Half Men
Flipping Vegas
Suits
Good Wife
Blacklist
Nashville
Elementary
Stargate Universe
It's worth remembering that there's a wealth of stuff available in the Channel 4 back catalogue for free - amongst them
Black Books
Father Ted
Shameless

I would recommend Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones along with many others, but for something completely different I have watched the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender and it is excellent. Admittedly, it is written for kids (I watched it with my 10 year old son), but it was so good that I assumed it had been taken from a series of books, but no - it is a standalone series.
If you haven't seen Boardwalk Empire on Sky Atlantic, then it's a no brainer.
And there's been 3 series of 12, so plenty to watch and enjoy.
Salamander - Brilliant
The Wire, probably the greatest TV show ever made.
The love Boat.
Another vote for the West Wing here.
Currently enjoying my second viewing of the entire lot.
Profoundly good television.
the good wife
house of cards
scandal
games of thrones
greys anatomy
the big bang theory
Broadchurch.
Buy the box set if you haven't seen it already.
I know it is an oldie but Lonesome Dove was enjoyable.
Hell on Wheels ain't bad either.
The Americans. Excellent.
"Bite my shiny metal ass."

"Hannibal"
Awesome depiction of Hannibal Lecter , its so dark and terrible but amazingly beautiful too. Quite entrancingly perverse and Hannibal is so evil but so cool its compulsive viewing.
