No problem and thanks for the compliment. Good to pull away from Audis when they are trying to get in your boot!

They think it's just an old Merc, which it is to those who don't know (Wolf in Sheeps Clothing)!

Nice 964, unusual in Black, years ago I owned a black 930 Turbo, wish I'd hanged on to that, but could say that about everything!

BMW 325i Coupe - 3L Straight Six - still don't think there is a sweeter sound! Even if it has cost me a fortune the last 12 months.

Very nice - what cost so much?
...from an interested '09 325i owner

I bought mine for the straight 6 performance & supposed reliability
What do I need to look forward to ?

You'll be pleased to hear, nothing integral! The pothole ridden roads in surrey mean I've had a new alloy, wheel bearing and tyre (pricey combo!), windscreen washer jets serviced (filters blocked!) and the front near side plastic wing needed some diagnostics for a bad rattle and got realigned. Probably my own stupid fault for using a main dealer!

    Ah a 122-S I believe.

Back in 1979/80 me and a colleague installed a 5.3 litre Dodge V8 engine, trans, and rearend into one of those. (it looked the same, but it was actually a 123GT, a rare version). It was a big job. Keeping the car stock appearing was important, so it looked right. People ignored it until they heard the engine start, - or got left standing on the road. Loads of fun.

It was my friends daily driver for fifteen years, but I checked on the dvla website recently and see it hasn't been taxed since 1996 - so it probably doesn't exist any more. A white Volvo 123GT PMC137E if anyone knows where it is now?

You'd think it was a 122S, wouldn't you? Actually a very rare w door 121 with the single Zenith carb. About as far removed from a V8 as it's possible to get!

I did want a 123GT but prices on these have gone daft in the last year - there's even one for £12k on the Bay of Thieves.

Shame your pal's isn't still around. Smashing cars.

I did have a 122S a while ago. Maybe 20 years. I've also had a 144 and a white 244 with brown leather seats and 3 speed auto. My 122 S had Cream paintwork black interior. The twin SU's used to drop their drain plugs every now and then. That made it even less economical than what I have now. (X5 petrol) Still loved it though. Unfortunately the chassis was not well so I sold it to a guy that was going to restore it.
Don't think he ever did though.

One of the best looking Fiats ever produced.
I don't know what they were like mechanically or for going rusty (like any other Italian of the era) but a great looking car and a certain classic.

Seem to rember the Fiat had a V6 Ferrari engine ??? I had a few in the day they were very popular with dealers as a luxury runabout, More saloons than coupe though and suffered from horrific rot, I had a navy blue saloon that broke completely in half after taking a bridge a bit enthusiastically , The interior was second to non and the engine a gem. I must say yours looks stunning.

It was the Fiat Dino coupe that had the V6 Ferrari engine.

It was a 3.2 litre V6 Fiat engine.

Beautiful - one of the most advanced and interesting pieces of motoring history ever.

I hope it still has the rotary engine and semi-auto box?

Devolved by a Ferrari engine designer, And VERY well advertised as Ferrari in its day. http://www.mirafiori.com/130/. A guy called Aurellio Lampredi ,

The engine was designed by a Ferrari engine designer but specifically for that Fiat model. I don't ever remember them advertising the unit as a Ferrari engine during that time, unlike the Fiat Dino. If I'm wrong, which Ferrari did they use it in?

Designed by Lampredi who was working for Fiat at the time. There is no similarity to the Dino which has a 65`V whereas the 130 is 60` and is a cast Iron block with one camshaft per bank.

I really love the 130, it isn't mint but unlike many of the remaining cars it is structurally very sound.

I'm afraid it does not, it has a horrible Ford V4 but I hope to rectify that later this year. The
reason I bought the car was it was almost rot free, which is almost unheard of for one of these.

That was a common conversion after sequential rotor-tip failure. Shame, as the car really deserves to be held in much higher esteem given what a technological tour de force it was.

You're doing the right thing putting a rotary back in. Hope you can find a good one :)

I think a whole herd of cows gave up their coats to clad the interior. Obviously not going to be the daily runabout, but when the mood takes me, I shall enjoy every moment!

500E is an awesome bit of kit, looked at probably a dozen but never yet bitten the bullet - one day though when I find the right one.

Unless I find a genuine AMG Hammer first!
