Absolute genius!
It's not Christmas for me without Star Wars.
Well
With all the crud and hype of Xmas, it's been nice to catch up with the old films...
Tremendous stuff with no bad language or gore.
Pure genius? Or pants?
Your thoughts guys?
Absolute genius!
It's not Christmas for me without Star Wars.
Not keen on the new ones - especially the first of the trilogy with the dreadful cartoon type characters in
The older three remain great films that you can watch over and over
It will be interesting to see what the next batch is like
I agree
The new films have some excellent effects thoughj
Brought back some good memories watching the first three. Classics! Was also great seeing my 2yr old enjoying them.
Yep, watched the first one the other day and it's still the best by miles. Empire Strikes Back: average, Return of the Jedi: entertaining.
The new ones are good for the effects, etc. but the first one is still the best - classic!
Love them all, take them for what they are which is fantastic all round family entertainment
Can't wait for the next lot
Queued for the first one waaay back and have loved them all since. Looking fwd. to the new releases!.
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
Pure genius! My kids are loving it, including my 7yr old daughter.
“Don’t look back, you’re not heading that way.”
Star Wars & Empire Strikes Back...genius. Return of the Jedi, less so but has its moments (Whenever the Ewoks aren't on screen).
Prequels are pants.
My friends and I can't stand those films. So unrealistic. LOL.
The link is a commercial some of my garrison mates did for Spike TV

I've never been in to any of the Star Wars even as a child....sorry chaps I'm know I'm not normal but I simply never liked them.
I resisted the new ones for a long time, just because I didn't want them to taint the memory. Then did all 6 back to back, and apart from the slight headache, it was a very good idea.
So good, I did it again :)
I like them all.
But must admit, for me nothing compares to Star Trek (Space theme of course).
May the Force be with you, guys.
Empire is still the best. Made sure my boys saw the original trilogy before the new three.
Would've been a tragedy already knowing darth was Luke's father before the pivotal scene in empire.
The original 3 of the 6 are classics, the latter two of the second batch are enjoyably passable and first is hopefully the black sheep that means that everything else ever made under the title will not make the same mistakes again.
Was very pleased to hear that the new productions are to incorporate much more model work in conjunction with CJI to bring back the look of some of the orginals. I really do hope this is the case.
They might be before my time, but I love the original trilogy. Cannot fault Empire in any way.
Agree with the Honey monster.
Can't stand sci-fi. Even the name is stupid. Why is any story set in the future called science-fiction?
Most of them have nothing to do with science (even imaginary science).
It requires a bit of imagination and to suspend disbelief. Some people can't do it.
Personally I love the original 3. The pre New Hope ones I can't stand. I find Anakin even more whiney compared to Luke.
Although I'm a fan, I do find watching the SW films a little harder as I get older, and they do almost seem a bit cheesey.
I think you have to remember they are essentially children's films, albeit with extremely high production values. Objectively, the story and dialogue really aren't that great (not to mention the moral of the story seems to be that you can be corrupted by greed for power, kill (literally) billions of people, and still redeem yourself at the last minute!), but the production design, and the realisation of Lucas's world is superb.
I also think it helps to have first seen them as a kid, when they will blow you away, and you're essentially reliving this wonder when you rewatch them. I can certainly see why an adult seeing them for the first time would probably see the flaws too easily, and wonder what all the fuss is about.
As I said, I think they're good, genre-defining films, but I think people do get carried away when rating them up there with proper, grown-up classic films from the likes of Scorcese, Coppolla etc.
Watching R.O.T.J now before going out.....gotta admit I'm loving it.
I'm really looking forward to JJ Abrams take on the Star Wars universe.
Empire Strikes Back was my favourite at the time, but A New Hope is getting better with (my) age.
For those talking about science fiction being in the future........"a long time ago in a galaxy far far away...."
I'll get my coat.....
Still think the original Star Wars in 1977 was the best , before all the added effects/scenes on various DVD and blu ray releases . The first film I saw at the cinema and probably the best .
Thankfully my son like these so we get to watch them
You can't beat the original 3.
I've grown more tollerant of the prequals the more that I've seen them.
My kids (boy 7 and girl 3) love all of them.
I happen to think Boba Fett is under used and under rated!
