There are probably taller on this forum, but I'm 6ft 6... Didn't really fit too well into some of the cars I liked - GT86, nope - Boxster, bit of a squeeze but just do-able (potential engine issues scared me away from these!), SLK - Nope, MX5 - see Boxster but even more of a squeeze...
the only vehicle for driving to whykickamoocow! if you saw the price of landies you'd know why
Have two vintage cars in my "collection"

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Steering is a bit heavier which I don't mind but amazingly, the 3 litre diesel feels like it has more poke than the 5.4 litre petrol. Maybe this is down to the extra weight of the M Class but with almost 3 times the mpg of the M Class, it was a no brainer (plus saving £150 on insurance). I would have had the ML 420 CDI if I could have found one within a reasonable distance though, 305 bhp and 720Nm is a bit tasty for a diesel.

720Nm...wow, almost hard to comprehend that!
Picked this up today, E350 CDI, had to search for a while to get one with all the toys, has memory seats, command satellite navigation, xenon, Harman kardon sound, very pleased

I changed my X5 for a 2007 Honda Civic a few weeks ago. The BMW was very nice to drive, but just too expensive to keep on the road.
The cost of tires and diesel was bad enough, but the 1,680 in motor tax per year was just too much for me to stomach.
For an X5? Some difference! It gets worse - Ireland switched from engine CC to CO2 emissions for motortax, so some people are now paying 2K a year in motor tax. Absolutely insane.
The pain in the arse is that my new car (a 2007 2.2D) is about 900 to tax per year. A 2008 model would be taxed by emissions and would only be 280 for the year - even though they're the same car.
1552 euros for an X5 with normal fuel, 2600 euros/yr for a diesel version... overhere in Holland.
My 7 y/o Saab 9-3 (250K kms) is taxed at 135 euros/month! That's why I sold the car for a VW Up. No tax ('cos it's clean) and the insurance is 18 euros/month.
The Up is quite a nice runabout. But last week, I'd installed a roof rack for the transport of a spar and sails for my son's dinghy - mind you, not the boat itself. When going uphill, the little engine had a difficult time. Luckily, my wife's new BMW has a lot more power!
My VW Up! on its first trip two weeks back. When buying the car, I ticked all the boxes of the accessories list. Really a full options car.

Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Hi Simon
It is the 2014 spec 2.0 D4 engined, FWD, R-Design Nav model + rear camera and family pack.
I spent a while trying to decide whether to go for the Red or not but the alternative was black, grey or dark brown, on the basis that my last two cars have been dark colours I thought "what the hell" and went for the red. The pictures don't do it any justice at all.
The front seats have been completely redesigned and are absolutely brilliant, very supportive but as you would expect also very comfortable. Few more pic's below
New digital dash layout, there is a choice of 3 different layouts which can be further altered to include additional info and even change colour schemes etc.
So far I am really impressed with it!
I know it isn't a sports car but it is a bloody good way to despatch long journeys in comfort and get there relaxed.
Paul
M3 with competition package, very civilised and nippy as well!
I picked this up this weekend. its a 4.4ltr V8 "sport individual" version. I love it so much and it is definately better than my wedding day was.
Just picked this one up last week: Veloster Turbo...201bhp from 1.6L.
The Veloster looks amazing... odd name though. What a Hot Rod.
Am too old and sensible (fat) for bikes or for cars you have to use both hands to get into or out of anymore. Also i don’t do that much road warrior stuff anymore, its either local commutes or trains these days.
So I just got myself a boring, but nice, VW Golf. A Mk6 1.6TDI that is just under a year old.
£35 road tax, insurance under £500, and it seems to be averaging almost exactly 50mpg (but I haven't done many long journeys yet)
So that saves lots of money (actually, I will just squander it on other toys, but I tell myself it is an economy)
Here's mine - C63 AMG
I have recently bought this; (Mmm- pic has not not quite worked how I wanted it to!)
