Another vote for Killer Elite, saw it last night, was actually better than I expected. Jason statham action film based on the 1980's and the SAS.
Worth a watch.
Went to see Jack Reacher. Not a film for all, but if you like the whole James Bond / Die Hard / Mission Impossible genre then it's worth investing two hours to see
Another vote for Killer Elite, saw it last night, was actually better than I expected. Jason statham action film based on the 1980's and the SAS.
Worth a watch.
I dont usually watch films, though over Christmas my 21 year old son implored me to watch The Bourne Identity - utterly brilliant.
Havent enjoyed a film so much since Chariots of Fire!
Watched "The Lives of Others" last night, and can not recommend it enough. By far the best movie I have seen in a long, long time.
Watching The Iron Lady now on channel 4, very good film.
Just seen "The Impossible" which I really enjoyed, doesn't show Naomi Watts in her true splendor though.
Ae Fond Kiss - Ken Loach love story. Really good, and a nice contrast to the glut of exploding Sci-Fi comic book films I have been watching recently. Nothing wrong with them, but I like a bit of variety to keep things interesting.
Just had a Batman weekend where we watched Batman Begins, Dark Knight and Dark Knight rises on consecutive evenings.
All just fantastic!
The first is still my favourite, but Bane is the best movie baddie in a long while!
I saw 'Cockney's vs Zombies' the other day- basically on the strength that it had Bricktop and a few other members of the cast of 'Snatch' in it.
It was the good kind of awful
Last week we finally watched the original 3-part TV version of Das Boot which has been sitting there for about a year. I don't normally use the word awesome but I think this justifies an exception.
watched end of watch last night. thought it was a really good solid cop movie, done pretty well & i liked both characters. the surprise scene in that house had me shocked. thought the ending could've been done differently but it still didn't disappoint
8/10 easy
django unchained & seven psychopaths tonight !
Saw Life of Pi today - fantastic film.
Andy
Wanted - Damasko DC57
I watched Django Unchained last night. Tarantino comes up with all trumps again with this film, awesome all round, feel, cinematography, cast. Top drawer for sure.
We've been watching The Impossible, but I've came back up stairs and left my wife and daughter to watch the last 45mins of it, I just wasn't enjoying the movie at all.
We might sit down and watch Argo tomorrow, as that's supposed to be good.
Just watched The Impossible, pretty good. The three children's performances are fantastic.
Watched 'Resurrecting The Champ' recently. Wasn't expecting much but really enjoyed it.
Watched Moon earlier today (recorded off BBC2 over Christmas). Well worth a look.

Saw the Fighter recently and was impressed by the acting, and also saw Wizard of Oz for the first time this Xmas and I rather enjoyed it.
Wasted 2 hours watching Bourne Legacy last night. Rubbish. I was bored half way through and only stuck with it as I paid for it on Sky Box Office. It's like a rubbish version of the other three. No new ideas.
I've just watched "We Need to Talk About Kevin". Oh my god....true horror. Makes Damien from The Omen look like an amateur! Outstanding film.
Watched the new batman last night, it was that good, I stayed awake....
Watched Skyfall last night - brilliant. I'm a Bond fan and thought it was up there with Casino Royale
Watched Killer Elite last week - don't bother, utter tosh
Also watched Bad Lietenant (original) last week (train journeys with work) - turned off half way through
Just finished watching Argo on the PJ, terrific movie.
Saw Chinatown recently. It's a 1974 Polanski film
Good film, although I dislike the director
Just watched Django unchained it was really good and the best Tarantino film I've seen in a long time.
Another vote for Life of Pi. Enjoyed the book and film equally, and the film helped me undersand aspects of the book I don't think I had quite grasped.
Eddie
Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
^Hahahaha!!
Was dragged screaming and kicking to watch Quartet this week.
Turned out to be a fine film with a masterly performance by Billy Connolly. A must for those of you getting slightly long in the tooth and worrying about what will become of you in old age. Raised a bit of a laugh on a cold winter's night.
Watched 'Source Code' the other night. The writer's borrowed the plot from 'Rogue Moon' by Algis Budris and seemed to me to add the sensibility of the plot of 'Speed' to add ersatz tension and jeopardy. They hit the same problem as Budris - which was what to do with the duplicate personalities - in Budris' case duplicate people, in 'Source Code's' case duplicate minds. In this instance they opted for a soft positive ending with no mention of what happened to the mind of the body that the protagonist inhabits.
Lazy, lazy film making and as a result I can't recommend it and certainly regret buying it.
But as a sort of kharmic counterbalance I found a copy of 'Map of the Human Heart' in the HMV blue cross sale, which I really liked when I last saw it about 15 years ago. I hope it stands the test of time...
Watched this last night.Worth a look, a few reviews call it the best ever French ganster film
