I have the dw-6600 for a little over 4 years battered the heck out of it and still looks new. excellent tough watches for times when you really need a watch

A DW-9000 (is hard to find these days)

I bought my first G-shock recently - one of those solar powered and radio controlled watches. I have other watches costing many, many times more. But frankly, when it comes to pure NEED, I don't NEED anything more than the G-shock can provide. In fact, it can do more in terms of accuracy and functions than any of my other watches.Originally Posted by tudormic

Hi
Congrats on another G-bargain.!
I have managed to keep it at two:
Thanks
deano
I had 2 (both atomic solar models) but sold one, the G-Shock is for when I purely care about function, so I only need one.

But two very nice one's!!Originally Posted by deano42
where tho's straps standart to the watches??
Looks ok.
Deano's fitted 'adaptors' to the watches so they can take rhino/zulu straps. gives the watch a totally different funtional look IMO.
where d'you get those adaptors for the straps...?
:)
My current daily beater of choice, imported from Japan. GW-9000-1JF. Multiband Waveceptor, Tough Solar, and indestructible. It's great.
The same module is now available in Europe in the slightly less in-your-face GW-800 and 810 series.
That's the model I have, as well. I had a GW-500, but I actually find the Mudman is less 'in your face' and wears smaller!Originally Posted by Seamaster73

I have a DW-6600 that I bought at WalMart in May of '98; still running on the same battery! Oh, and this one...seems "2" is the magic number:
I have more than two
These are the ones that I would admit to having:
Revived this one recently at the cost of £20 for new battery and waterproof testing:
I could/should have bought a new G instead. I will stick to solar Gs from now.
a question for psikat;
Is the nagative display easyer to read or not?
Hi Tudormic & Steve
Raydin was right on both accounts:

The only reason I say zulu and not rhino is that the zulu comes in 24mm that fits the adaptor perfect. You can just as easily use a rhino from our host, but there would be 2mm play as the max width of a rhino is 22mm.
EDIT - This is a complete lie on my behalf, as we all know the Original Rhino come in many sized, even 24mm.! These straps are a real bargain at a mere £10. To save you the trouble to find them just click here > >

One word of caution, there are two type of adaptors the REAL Casio ones with the text on (like mine, purchased from Keith at tiktox) and the ones that are aftermarket. These are sold as "stealth" / "sterile" adaptors as they have no text, but they have to be cut to fit the Gs. So do not skimp and go for the real deal.
Here is a reverse angle shot of the same two watches:
I really like them and they make a big watch wear really nice.
Thanks
deano
The maximum width of the original Rhino is 24mm Deano, did you ever check the website?

I think i am in terrible need of adaption :D
A 24mm Waterborne does the job quite well too! :wink:Originally Posted by deano42
To be pedantic, the 24mm Rhino is only available as a 2-piece/4-ring version. Though it is a great strap, the angle of the adaptors combined with the "2nd piece" can make the watch wear quite high. The 1-piece (or 2 ring) strap is preferable IMO.
I changed the somewhat clumsy and bulky arrangement of the combined velcro and snap-on nylon strap that came with my G-2900 with the Waterborne and it works very well IMO. My G-2000 is still on it original rubber. I'll post a couple of pics later.
...and yes, 2 does seem to be the magic number!
Cheers,
The negative display is fine in bright light but is on the whole inferior to the regular display in terms of readability. The only advantage is aesthetic, if a negative display appeals to you.Originally Posted by tudormic
I just received mine this morning. I just couldn't get on with the negative display on my 810, so ordered this. Couldn't be happier.Originally Posted by Seamaster73
The adapters from tiktox.com, which I bought, didn't fit my DW-6600. Why? Because there are two types of adapters. I got the "correct" set of adapters from Mike Hogan at WUS.Originally Posted by deano42
What I mean, they may fit your G-Shock but not the DW-6600.
And yes, there is a differance between the two sets of adapters.
