Lidl Tea Storage Boxes - Back in Stock

A heads up for anyone wanting to get hold of a Lidl tea box to use as a watch box: it's rumoured they are due to be back in stock on Monday 5th November. Not all stores have the same offers though so it may be a bit hit & miss.

  2. #2
That I like . We hear to little about Lidl here anyway. But you're right, these tea boxes are certainly worth a stop off.

  3. #3
    Do they come with dividers?

What do people use for cushions?

I shall be heading down to my local store and purchasing one or two. A bit of felt lining and some short lengths of pipe lagging between the internal dividers, et voila!

I bought bag of 25 black velvet pillows from ebay for 50p each:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Velv...item2a24673555

You can get 5 for 99p if you buy from Hong Kong, but I preferred a UK seller:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-x-Velvet...item257653b036

    Search for 'Jewellery Pillows'

I've got three of them - they are the best solution out there at a reasonable price.

Looks like the economy pinch is being felt even by Lidl, there are only 4 sections as opposed to the previous 5.

Pipe lagging works great & makes an honest combo with the humble Lidl boxes.

  28. #28
Just had a phone call from the Mrs. - She has managed to get 3 tea boxes (2 for me, and one for my dad for Christmas).

Now to order pillows from eBay.

    Well done the wife!

I've just got back from my local store where I got 1, there were loads with little or no interest in them. In the fact the only interest was a few people asking my why I was buying a tea chest :)

Bagged 2 tea boxes this morning. Very pleased with these. The quality is not bad at all.

  31. #31
Same in the Reading store, lots there - picked my one up

Now to decide which seller to buy some pillows from :)

Has anyone else noticed that these have shrunk. I haven't bought one before, but previous photos show 5 sections - 10 watches, but these are 4 sections - 8 watches.

SWMBO fancies one for her tea now!

A few in the Durham store; one less now. The cushions are coming from somewhat further afield.

The Mrs picked two up for me today, I must say I'm very impressed with the quality. She's getting a couple more for the father-in-law tomorrow.

Might get some felt and cover some pipe lagging just to jazz it up

    Yes, they are now smaller!

Prefer the design of the old one which has a flush (rather than overhanging oversized) lid. But for £6.99 you can't go wrong with either.

  36. #36
Collected mine today, and as already said quality is impressive indeed.

Now to find pillows (any recommendations) and more watches to fill the storage box ;)

OMW, same price smaller item, must be made by Mars in Slough

I noticed that and posted earlier in the thread.

Just like the rest of shrinking purchases, 75ml is the new 100ml, well at least as far as toothpaste is concerned :)

I got 3 yesterday from the Newcastle under Lyme store as soon as it opened at 8. They only had 10 available. 2 boxes for prezies (teas & coffees to start with, then cushions for watches), 1 for me.

I've not long been back from picking up 2 from my nearest store, sorry if it offends anyone on here (though I highly doubt it will) but I refuse to call Feltham local! Haven't had a chance to look at them properly yet but on first impressions they look to be great VFM. They still had about a dozen left on display after I'd helped myself so if anyone is really struggling to get there hands on one (or two, or three...) then drop me a PM and I'll do by best to help

  41. #41

    really awesome

    lice hardwood too

  42. #42
Still got three upstairs in the cupboard from the last time they were for sale - bought a bloody watch box the day after from SC and never used them!

  43. #43
Got mine yesterday, and bought a 1 metre length of pipe lagging foam from B&Q for ooh £2.38

    So that's a semi-presentable 8-watch box for under a tenner :)

Lidl Tea Storage Boxes - Back in Stock

Having now opened them (and at the risk of making myself look very stupid) I genuinely thought these came with the tea included, in fact I spent the drive home from Lidl trying to think of who I could palm it off on!

It's definitely Beech. They also have very small (rare earth?) magnets in the lid to keep it closed too. Amazing vfm.

Ah, the older ten compartment boxes don't have the magnets.

I've got a few of the older ones and they do the job great. I bought some jewellery pillows of eBay. Though I remember someone used the round swimming floats/noodles from the pound shop and cut them up. They look like this.

An old pick of mine, as sadly five of the watches are no longer with me.

Do Lidl customers really keep their teabags in wooden boxes? How posh!
