    Secret watch storage

Though not really a secret now

It's an old side table/pot stand that I modified for use as a watch box.

The idea being that it looks like an ordinary piece of furniture with the storage hidden under the hinged top.

And when the lid's up a nice display for showing off ......

A little lace tablecloth and a vase of flowers on top and no-one would know.

I think you need a proper catch underneath that lid rather than just the sping clip, otherwise the next time the wife picks it up to move it all your watches are gonna fall out (assuming she doesn't know where they are:-)).

Nice discrete job though, well done.

I hope you've no dogs though, as that looks like the type of thing to get knocked over

Jaysus, you'd want to put some fire resistant paint/varnish on that dresser, just in case ...

    I heard that

a GS owner always told his wife when being asked...it's just another Seiko...and deliberately missed the "Grand"

    Hi mate,

you are realising that the content in the Watch Talk forum is there to see for everyone on the internet? Given the possibilities of the web, someone could be standing outside (or inside, for that matter) your door tomorrow to check out your little secret.

Just a hint, have a good weekend

Looks good although I'd want an internal latch rather than the external, and make it 'lockable' so that if the thief is the kind that will smash stuff up for the sake of it threw it about it wouldn't come open.

About a year ago i was thinking about somewhere, easily and quickly accessible, covert but secure and lockable, to store watches the were being worn quite regularly but not everyday.

I came up with a brilliant idea (if I say so myself) It's secure but 'hidden in plain site' strong as a safe, easy to access in seconds but 'locked' Oh and it only cost £20 and took 15 mins to modify and install !

I'm bursting to tell you all but of course that would defeat the object

Is it one of those little safe things that look like a double plug socket on the wall?

    We won't tell anyone!

I've got a hard disc in a hollowed-out book, but it's not really a suitable place to keep watches.

Lovely pieces of furniture both! But the big one is quite something! A bit tantalizing though as I can't make out what books you have there on side shelves

    Nicely done!

No point of hiding a watch for the missus. "They all look the same". You just need to pick up the post invoice, before she can see it!
