There Seem to be more and more aftermarket modifcation companies for Rolex; Black out concept, Pro Hunter etc
It seems similar to the Overfinch's, Alpina's and Techarts of the motor world,
If you could own any Modded Rolex, which one would it be and why?
A Milsub is the only modification from standard that I view as desireable.
Thoroughly dislike them all so wouldn't have one.

And Comex id that can be called modified.
looks like they're not too popular then!
I presonally quite like Pro Hunter DSSD, but not at circa £15k!
Have to agree that unlike a car, watch mods are normally detrimental and do little to enhance them.
However playing devils advocate and bringing in an earlier thread there was pretty unanimous condemnation of the Popeye Rolex. However is this very different from the snoopy speedmaster?
Without the slightest shadow of doubt...but then I'm into dive watches :)...
Strange that there is no diamond on the dial
To me modified Rolexes are like a tunned cars. And I don´t like either.
If you want modify, you can only with original parts - like changing clasps, dials, bezels, etc.
Modified cars can enhance the experience. For me, a modified watch in the ilk of Pru Hunter doesn't enhance anything.
I get where you're coming from as there's no performance benefit, its not like theyve doubled the depth rating aswell in the process etc and is purely cosmetic, but nothing wrong with a bit of invidularity right? (if of course done tastefuly!) Or am I on my own on this one?
Amazing how so many watch fans have a closed mind to modification of watches.
Lets be clear, a modified Rolex is still super easy to service and there is no shortage of parts. Who the hell buys somehting based on a warranty?lol
This one for me
I am collecting ze parts Igor...switch on the lightning conductor
For sale here: http://www.watches.de/en/products/ro...aly-16600-1736
EDIT - sorry I was meant to quote the original post, not sure what happened there. It must be the new forum (or my stupidity...).
I like the Prohunter Submariners on NATOs, they're very stealthy and unusual. I don't think they justify the high price though, you seem to be buying exclusivity rather than any value added by the modifcations.
Swapping the bezel insert for black on a 16610 LV is something I plan to try. Any other mods look a bit rubbish to me - and any that mean Rolex won't touch it at service time seem a bit mental to me?
You need a white exp ii, take the fixed bezel off and replace with a gmt ii bezel and assembly simples. It similar to the 1655 mod jocke did with his gmt, in fact the exact opposite!
I really like the Italian sd, the price is eye watering tho....
I had the opportunity to handle the very first proto 'Prototype 1' of this BREVET+ watch last weekend.
Dials are produced in Switzerland and are high quality waffle dial (even under a loupe). Hands and insert are very good quality.
For me, a genuine improvement on the current Milgauss!
Is it possible to get the Pro Hunter effect on a preowned SD 16600 or can you only buy them modified from new?
When there was an attempt to modify the Jesuits in the 18th century, the head of the order, Lorenzo Ricci, said 'sint ut sunt aut non sint' - let them be as they are or not at all. I hold the same view about modifying watches.
