I'll give you 2k for it.
So..... For you.... which watch currently in production and for sale today, ticks all these boxes for you ?
Well made
Excellent brand history
Excellent time keeper
Can be worn in water if required
Looks equally good with a suit as with casual wear
And before all the Rolex sports owners (me included) start off......
RRP must be under 4k
I'll give you 2k for it.

My SD 16600 qualifies although one could argue that my Steinhart also does the job.
214270, job done.
Omega Speedmaster. Waterproof enough for going in the pool etc. useful chrono, good history - few better.
Breitling Aerospace...
Although it doesn't ;) Not in production and would be a lot more than the RRP limit if it was.Originally Posted by David RH

Two...... I have a 14060 Sub and XL PO both together stand me under 4k.
PO is my pick of the bunch, wore the 14060 today and I am falling out of love.

Grand Seiko.
I love my Seiko watches and the GS ticks all the boxes for me BUT ............. Seiko have only recently deemed that Europeans should be allowed to purchase one of these. Previously I believe they were Japan DM only. For that reason alone I wouldn't buy one. If my money wasn't good enough before, their product isn't good enough for me now.
Kind regards

New, Tudor Pelagos or black bay, even though I'm still suspicious of the red crown tube.
Used, good ole dweller or submariner.
it is impossible to argue against this watch with the above criteria.Originally Posted by Henrik Gelardi

Can I suggest a Longines Legend Diver? Slightly cheating as you really want the no date version which isn't in production, however it is available for less than half your budget and unlike almost every other diver does casual or suited and booted with style
yes. And easily fits under a cuff.Originally Posted by whoami

As quoted in the SC thread
Some great suggestions, but IMHO the Legend dresses up better than most divers or bracelet watches.Originally Posted by zelig

I think I'll suggest the PO 8500 if you wanted to go new or the 2500D model if pre-owned.

Not sure any of the divers really look right with a suit :?
Steel Datejust is close.........under £4K with discount?
The only one of the 'modern' square-lugged Rolexes I really like; a truly classy watch that's waterproof to 100metres so it qualifies as a swimmer if not a diver. Regret letting mine go but I sold it at a time when I thought the collection had grown too large and 5 Rolexes was 1 too many.Had I known how the valuse would keep rising I would've kept it....it was eating nowt.

Breitling Superocean Heritage 46mm - not got one but on my wish list
Speedy Pro ticks all the boxes.
Speedy pro is wr 30m, which means you should stay away from water.
A mate of mine bought his in 1969 as a young army officer; he has worn ever since, in hot and wet conditions (Vietnam and Australia) hot, sandy and dry (Australia) and hot, sandy and wet (Australian and other beaches). He gets it serviced regularly and wore it in the surf only a few weeks ago. 30m WR is fine for swimming and getting wet occasionally; though I wouldn't recommend it as a dive watch, NASA astronauts wear theirs in 10m of water during training for weightlessness.Originally Posted by MzM
