Perfect dress watch :thumbright:
Since my JLC Master Moon has been given a reprieve, I decided to get it looking ship-shape. I've given it a slight polish which has brought it up even better, and took the plunge and got a new strap for it.
The problem has been that the oem strap has curved ends, and is in an unusual length due to it being a single clasp deployent - if the "short" side is too long, the clasp sits in the wrong place. JLC charge getting on for £300(!) for a replacement, but since I believe Camille Fournet make JLC straps anyway, I took the plunge and ordered one theirs. Turned out they weren't cheap by the time you customise it to make JLC specs, but I think I got a pretty good match.
Strap photo
Watch now looking pretty spiffy. The strap just needs to break in a bit.
Perfect dress watch :thumbright:
Beautiful! I am also wearing my JLC today, they are just doing some mighty fine watches!
Someone who lies about the little things will lie about the big things too.
Really nice piece, v. unusual and absolute top-drawer quality.
I`m not really a moon-phase fan but I could make an exception for this one.
Sounds like a good outcome re. the strap; I resent paying silly money for manufacturer's branded straps.

Especially when it is essentially the same product without the oem branding. There are very minor differences, but the shape, cut and hide are exactly the same as the old oem one, so I'm pleased with the result.Originally Posted by walkerwek1958
I think CF make straps for quite a few of the big brands.
Nicework on the strap and what a stunning watch
Thanks for sharing the pictures
My favourite JLC.....what did you use for the 'spruce-up', by the way.....
I've got a cheap polishing wheel from these guys.Originally Posted by paultje

It's a bit of a blunt weapon, and I'm sure the pro's wouldn't dream of using it, but it gets a pretty good mirror finish. (The MM is all-polished so you don't have to be too careful, unlike when there are polished/brushed surfaces close together).
Well, thanks for that, Rob (I think), because I've just ordered two for the price of a decent watch. One dark grey and one black, so my two JLC's should look lovely once they're fitted. I'll add a couple of photos at the appropriate time.
Like the Camille Fournet strap. What was the specification for the custom strap?
Ooh moonphase
A very nice dress watch :)
CF are pretty helpful in providing the detail for equivalents of oem straps. The JLC needs to have a shorter than normal "short" end to make the clasp sit in the right place, as well as needing curved lug ends. So I ordered matt square gator, 19/16, curved ends, 115x70 with 4mm curved padding. This is pretty much identical to the oem strap I took off. I went for standard lining, but the oem has a brown lining. Also some of the oem ones have boxed end stitching. As you can see from the first photo, it's a pretty much exact match.Originally Posted by rmclachlan

Excellent dress watch
Amazing watch - love the moon phase dials in general, and the JLCs are just stunning... :)
That is my favourite circular dial JLC. You are far braver than me to polish it yourself! It's a lovely thing though!
It was no drama - when the watch is all polished, all you have to worry about is the machine prising it out of your grip and throwing it across the room! I would be much more apprehensive where there are closely combined brushed/polished sections and AR coatings on the crystal.Originally Posted by Scrubnut
That is a job well done. The watch looks great! It would look cool without the moon phase but, in my oppinion, it adds color, wich i like, a lot
I must have been back to this thread about 10 times in the last 24 hours, truly stunning watch. What model is it?
It's the Master Moon. Now replaced by the Master Calendar.Originally Posted by ~dadam02~
Top banana, thanks for that
Well, by way of a quick update, I've just received notice from FedEx that the two straps that I've had custom made by Camille Fournet will be with me tomorrow. That's just 7 days after the order was placed. Amazing!Originally Posted by learningtofly
That looks fantastic! I'm always wary of buying a leather strapped watch as I think they can ware out quickly.
Blimey! That's pretty quick.Originally Posted by learningtofly
I was happy with 2 weeks from order to delivery.
Look forward to seeing the grey on your watches, Tony.
