Would either of these fall into this category? :shock:Originally Posted by paulrlx

There is yet more fat to be trimmed off, a daily beater is due for the chop and one of these two. The trouble is, I have had some trouble deciding which one has to go. Both are minty fresh and partially stickered, I've used the SD more as the Daytona has remained largely boxed and admired, as a result has been up for sale before due to it getting no wrist-time, but I just love the look of it. Anyway, the question is which one would you cut out? The SD or the Daytona?

There is only ever going to be one winner of this pole on this forum, but I'd sack the SD personally.
You've enough (at least one after further culls) black dials, so it would be the SD to go for me.
Then again, if the daily is between the SMP and Speedie and the Speedie wins, you'd have two chrono's.
Still, I think a white dial will always provide variety.
New beater is the SMP, old beater is a Tag Link!Originally Posted by danmiddle2
Daytonas just do not do it for me. It's pedantic I know but the lack of a date makes it somehow incomplete. On that basis I would keep the SD.
<ducks and sprints for cover> :)
Daytona would go just because it has a White dial
Daytona - I just don't understand the attraction TBH.

Daytona should go.
It looks fairly conclusive already!
yeah, i'd chop the daytona if i was ever in that position (highly unlikely)
Both and replace them with 1 Steinhart.
Basically exactly the same and only having 5 - 10% of your money tied up.
Suprised that so many agree with me on this one, but the Daytona would have to go for me as well.
Never really felt the Daytona, sack it :)
Not keen on the Daytona, so if It were me, that would have to go.
Then again I'm pretty neutral on the SD too, so I'd probably chop them both in and replace with a DSSD.
Personally, I'd sack the SMP, replace it with a 2254.50, and then get rid of the Daytona.
Get rid of the SMP.
Not keen on the Daytonna but it's a white dial so adds some variation.
If it was me, I would sack the Speedie and the DJ. Use the Daytona as a dress watch, the SD is versatile and the other Omega as your beater. That was easy. :D
Can I vote to lose the blue Bond?
I love the SD and Daytona too much.
Personally I'd keep the SD. You'll still have a chrono and dress watches, and will free up more cash. Plus, the SD is my favourite looking Rolex.
For me it would be the Daytona that goes to be replaced by a GS chrono.
Dump the one you wear less! If me, I'd bin the Daytona.
Daytona is my friend's grail watch, but there's just something about that shiny bezel that I cannot love...
SD + Speedy Pro (plus, perhaps, a G-Shock) covers 95% of anyone's needs...
Such a tough call but if the SD gets worn the most then makes sense to keep that one I guess.
If the choice is between the SD and the Daytona, I'd say you should let the Daytona go. Never did it for me, honestly, but as an argument agains letting it go, you meet fewer Daytonas than Rolex divers out there. But still, I'd let it go...
Didn't even get past the 2 options in your poll to read what the OP had said - easy choice is ditch the Daytona.
Even though I own (and love) my white dial Daytona it should be the one to go. It will free up some serious cash for MORE watches :)
Keep the Speedmaster and move the rest on.You'll then have cash to pick up pretty much whatever you want.
I am going to buck the trend here and suggest that the SD gets the chop and the Daytona stays. I have reached this momentous decision after a balanced view of what is in your box and also the fact that SDs can be seen everywhere whereas Daytonas are rarely seen.
Alright? 8)
Thanks for all the opinions, you have just confirmed what my gut feeling was. The Daytona is going to be given the boot!!!
Without a doubt the SD. Eventhough I love both watches, the Daytona is just so awesome.
Daytona - keep the SD - it is awesome
“ Ford... you're turning into a penguin. Stop it.” HHGTTG
I don't dislike the Daytona, always thought the pushers are too big though.
In answer to the OP, chop which ever one you wear least. If it were me, I'd be selling the Daytona.
From your heart, I suppose you like Daytona, this is why " Daytona has remained largely boxed and admired ", sell the SD and wear the Daytona. unless it is not suitable for your kind of work....
Daytona to go for me. SD is just a true icon and THE rolex to own.
The Salmon Pink one has to go!
Keep the Daytona SeaDweller and Speedie, maybe the Bond as well.
The rest can go.
Daytona must go, no date
Keep the Daytona its a beautiful watch & everyone knows that the SD is just an over hyped, top heavy, uncomfortable, over priced sub anyway.
(Now where's my tin hat?..........)
Sounds like the SD is going to get more use, if any. Get rid of the 'white angel'. :D

Up to you tho chief.
Seems a lot of people are saying daytona as they don't really get/like the watch... that's fair enough, everyone's opinion counts, however seems to me that the OP does get/like the daytona, so on that basis, I'd say keep the daytona, though rather than get rid of the SD, I'd probably suggest to sell the Salmon Dial DJ and the SMP....
It would be the Daytona for me.
Never really saw the appeal or the high price.
(I know, I'm a Philistine.)
Tough choice, but for me personally I prefer the Daytona ever so slightly over the SD.
Good luck!
Lose the daytona; I've had white and black faced versions, sold both and regret neither. I do want an SD, though...
I'd say Daytona or alternatively the SMP can go to me :D
The Daytona should go. Easy decision. The SD should stay. The King of divers with a fabulous history. The Daytona is expensive and overblown IMO. Difficult to read the time on a Daytona in most light, as well!
I'd bin the SD personally - love the Daytona and never really 'got' the SD over the IMHO better balanced 14060M
