Hand on heart at ''this moment in time'' it would be the new Rolex ExplorerII white face.
Patek Philippe Nautilus Chronograph 5980/1. With black face.
I'm over it already. I was only after your money (and your watch).Originally Posted by 100thmonkey

Greubel Forsey Quad Tourbillon.
BOOM!
For me i'd have a white gold blue sub, can't say if I'd prefer it over the Deepsea but if money was no object i'd love to have one.
Probably a 6538 Submariner like this (pic borrowed with thanks)
Mine would probably be a IWC PORTUGUESE PERPETUAL CALENDAR in red gold :)
Jaeger LeCoultre Hybris Mechanica Grande Sonnerie for me :D
Technological masterpiece maybe but, man, it's ugly. It looks like it's got cancerous growths bulging out of the case.Originally Posted by joethetoe
It would have to be a Gold Sub w/black dial :)
For me, money no object, it would be this....
IWC Il Destriero Scafusia Grand Complication
Easy - Paul Newman's Paul Newman Daytona :D

Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.
Friedrich Nietzsche
For me it would be Vacheron Constantin's Chronometer Royal-just a classically elegant dress watch.
Good pic. Nice PPK/S.Originally Posted by Shane

At the moment, BP Fifty Fathoms
Definitely one of these.
Seiko Space Walk. Mind you those Richard Mille pieces look amazing
Rolex 5513 MoD.
Menno
(Pic from the VRF archive - Mike Wood. If it's not allowed to post this pic, I'll remove it, off course)
Right now it would be an IWC Big Pilot or AND a Vintage Blancpain fifty fathoms.
Andy
A Patek 5127G
or a 5726A
I'm with you on both accounts...........They are my two favourite Pateks. :DOriginally Posted by robcat
If money were no object...
Interesting question, really is. I have no idea if I'm typical or non-typical as a watch collector, but as many of you know, I'm strictly a one marque man - Heuer.
This isn't just limited to my spending power*, I really don't get any feelings about other marques - there are the odd exceptions that catch my eye, but I rarely buy any. I've quickly scanned through the 6 pages of watches posted on this thread - I recognised many of the makers, but very few do anything for me.
*I don't mean that I'm loaded, far from it, I mean that Heuers aren't *that* expensive compared to the pieces shown in this thread.
I genuinely would rather have an Autavia than a Patek or Hublot or Richard Mille (dunno if that is spelled correctly). or any of the super expensive brands. That's not be trying to be clever, it's just a fact. I don't know why, I've tried to get excited about some other watches, but it's short lived. I guess the question to me would be more relevant if it was "What would you buy if all watches were the same price, say a couple of hundred quid".. then that would rule out the 'want' for something uber expensive.
I enjoy the Heuer hunting, because money sometimes isn't the issue, it's finding one.
In a way, it's a blessing, as I never have that feeling of wanting a £200K watch!
Is anyone else out there blighted with this type of collecting, ie. one marque?
I'm the exact opposite whereby I am very reluctant to own more than one example of a brand. This leads me to a one in/one out and a slight box-ticking mentality. Neither collecting strategy is "right", but both produce a collection that is not for everyone - but that's the nature of collecting.Originally Posted by europa

An IWC Portuguese for sure.
scooter
Panerai 233, IWC Portuguese, AP ROO, PP Nautilus...
Also tempted by a Nautilus for some 1970s giggles. Unbelievably bad value for a steel watch with a conventional movement, but if money really is no object...
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!
Really? I think it's stunning!Originally Posted by Optimum

Money no object?
I'd commision Ming Thein to build 2 of his minute repeaters (one for me and one for him) as outlined in the early days of watch talk. I can't find it at the mo with my search skills, but it is rally wort the effort to trawl through his early postings.
A Milsub.
A one-off one-of-a-kind Roger W. Smith pocket watch. With complications to include:
Tourbillon
Minute repeater
Perpetual calendar
Moonphase
Split-second chronograph
GMT indicator
and so on.
Pretty hard choice... It changes from time to time.
For now i probably want to have a 5296 white gold. A tz member has one.
This is the closest for me that PP does to a do-it-all watch in the sense that it's certainly a dress watch, it's thin and discreet enough to wear with any formal outfit, but the sector dial make it just casual (sporty even) enough to wear with jeans and a t-shirt. Even though I like the complicated models more, I don't think any are as versatile - although the discontinued 5396 sector dial annual calendar almost pulled off the same trick off as well. (I'm still lusting after the 5205 I saw last week though).Originally Posted by Time Cat
