Milton Jones makes me giggle.
I've got a fairly large collection of Comedians doing their thing, concert or small gigs, whatever.
Bill Hicks, Kinnerson, Chris Rock, Pryor, Chappelle, Louis CK, Izzard, Greg Giraldo, Big Yin, so many more.
My favourite is David Cross, just shades out Geroge Carlin for me.
Least favourite (recent memory at least) Jason Mamford, just awful.
Your favourites? Apart from Cameron, Clegg, Clarkson etc.
(Moved from incorrect section, my bad).
Milton Jones makes me giggle.
The late great Bernie Mac 8)
At the moment Stewart Lee's up there.
Not sure why you needed to move this thread :?
But.....
Mine is Jethro....
&
Jimmy carr
I always buy a jethro DVD for my dad at christmas too he loves him
Also i love Jimmy Jones
Frankie Boyle.......... the sicker the better
Love a good laugh and the biggest ones from memory for stand up are from the likes of Skinner, Evans, Connolly, Murphy, Pryor, Kay and Chris Rock.
Difficult to pick a winner but some of Skinners old routines have had me hurting uncontrollably

Louis C.K seems to be rated No1 currently by his peers.

Quite wide tastes:
Rhod Gilbert, Billy Connolly, Lee Evens, Dave Allen, Peter Cook, Tony Hancock, Peter Kay, Spike Milligan, Bill Hicks, Jack Dee, Louis C.K., Chris Rock, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, George Carlin, Jeff Dunham, Steve Martin, Robin Williams.
Can't stand Stewart Lee.
Peter Kay, jimmy Carr, and that Geordie woman.......... Sarah millican, I know she does a lot of men jokes but I feel she has a really honest way of telling her stories that makes it all the funnier, and she laughs at herself which in turn makes me laugh.
Oh and that Geordie guy that's always on HIGNFY.
Oh and I know it's not a comedian but every Christmas I always pick up the viz annual in WH Smith and have a chuckle. Maybe a little crass but who cares, right?
Excellent choice (he's my cousin).Originally Posted by trisdg

Tommy Cooper and Morecambe and Wise - ( there will be the usual repeats at Xmas)
Of the current crop - none really
Jimmy Carr for me
Sam Kinison is the funniest man I have ever seen. Sadly he was killed in a car accident :( Bill Hicks and John Candy also no longer with us but bloody funny
One man show: Robin Williams or Eddie Izzard
Double act: Morecambe and Wise, the funniest men in the history of comedy.
Cheers,
At the moment I'm loving Sean Lock, absolute quality both in content and delivery :)

Not PC but Bernard Manning :D
Like: David Mitchell, Rhod Gilbert, Billy Connolly, Dave Allen, Jasper Carrot (old gold), Peter Kay (for Phoenix Nights), Gervais & Merchant, Jack Dee, Sarah Millican, Hugh Dennis, Dara O'Briain, Ed Byrne, Ross Noble and many more.
Dislike: Andy Parsons, John Bishop, Shappi Khorsandi, Jo Brand, Lenny Henry.
Frankie Boyle Alan Carr Jimmy Carr Sean Lock Lee Evans all funny
Pam Ann is my favourite.
Also early Eddie Izzard, bill hicks, and early Eddie murphy (raw in particular)
This may classify more as pure talent, but it is done so by the best comedian, ever, IMO.

Stewart Lee.
Laughed until it hurt, when listening to the below take on Top Gear.
I was not aware of him, until someone here recently drew my attention to him in a similar thread.
I have seen/listened to a few of his stand-up vids on youtube and find him very funny.
Especially his take on top gear here. Listen to all of it, it is very funny, but his description of Hammond "The Hamster" is spot on!!!! So much in fact, that I have not been able to look at The Hamster the same way, when ever I am watching Top Gear since listening to Stewart Lee.
The Hamster is a small sycophant, just as Stewart Lee claims. And for the record, I like Top Gear

What is the general opinion of Stewart Lee amongst the forum members here?
I ask, beacause I have not listened to him until recently and did not know (of) him.
John Bishop for me at the moment......and always Billy Connolly
Emo Phillips, Demetri Martin, Zach Galifianakis, Jason Byrne, Maeve Higgins, Daniel Kitson and David O'Doherty all stand out from recent years. Jerry Seinfeld is here in May though, and hopefully he'll top them all.
Three pages of posts about favourite comedians and only one mention of the late, great Spike Milligan thus far
Of the current crop, I find Bill Bailey very amusing.
always liked Bill Hicks, however watched his dvd recently and it hasn't aged all that well, though we can hardly blame him for that!
all time Billy Connolly, Dave Allen
currently maybe Rhod Gilbert

I agree with most that have been mentioned and will throw in Mickey Flannagan as a current fav, saw him a few months ago, 2+ hours of great stuff
Sean Lock for me at the moment - I was surprised to see that he sits above Sean Connery in Google though!

Mate, you want to see the sketch where he explains why Braveheart's crap and why William Wallace is a paedo at a gig in Scotland.
For the record I'm also a fan of Marcus Brigstock and Boothby Graffoe.
Stewart Francis cracks me up, for some reason I find one liners hilarious , Milton Jones makes me chuckle too.
Most of the above, though I suppose Billy Connolly merits a special mention.
The Frankie Boyle of his day -his double live album was irreverent, funny ...... and dead cheap in Scotland in the early 70s
A guaranteed hit!
Page 4 and no mention of Rich Hall! shame on you all. And Larry David per Curb, the sitcom.
some of..... Jerry Sadowitz, Dylan Moran, Dave Allen, Tiernan.
Bill Bailey. What a talent!
How he can be so clever, funny and at the same time play a variety of instruments, is incredible.
