I predict a lot queues not materialising around apple stores when it's launched.
Er.. Talk to your phone? I don't think so. A Galaxy SII will be replacing my iPhone 4 tomorrow.
Yet another good reason for me to stick to my trusty 2005 Nokia!! :D
I was going up to dig out my sleeping bag and flask to prepare for the big Q, glad I read up first!! I'll keep my old trusty 3GS a bit longer.
A bit of an anti-climax
Time to sell apple shares if you got them methinks... a small upgrade which still doesnt even put it on level terms with the 1½ year old Galaxy S...
Same size screen too. I'll be sticking with my 3GS until my contract is up rather than take an early upgrade and take a look at what else is on the market then.
F.T.F.A.
I am wondering what would be overall reaction if the same phone would be called iphone 5? Would there be more or less complaints?

I'm currently using a 3GS and due an upgrade... at the moment it looks like i'll keeping it for a while longer on a reduced contract.
It's no revolution but it at least puts the camera in the same league as the competition. Processor is a big leap forward as well. And before you all jump me for being a fan boy I have a Desire Hd and wouldn't swap it for the IPhone if you paid me.
The no show didn't stop the idiotic BBC News 24 from announcing the 'new iphone 5' just after 7pm well before Apple hadn't even not announced it yet!?
well its like the iphone3... 3g then 3gs... with changes that i just waited for the 4 the get the 3gs. i'll just wait for the 5..
I'll be holding out for next year then, they will still sell millions of these but a real disapointment.
Very good point! :) I'd say there'd be less moaning from the unwashed masses. :)Originally Posted by Normunds

I'm still on the fence on this one ... I've got a 3GS which does nicely, but the improved processor speeds, retina display and 8mp camera as well as the software upgrades are making me consider changing now rather than waiting another 6 - 9 months or more for the 5 to come out.
A larger screen would have been nice as the current screen is looking small compared to say the Galaxy S2, but the operating system on the Galaxy doesn't quiet seem as intuitive.
think I'll wait to see one in the flesh and have a play before deciding whether to stick with i-phone or change to an S2
I'll be keeping my iPhone 4 until the 5 next year, nothing about the 4S makes me feel like changing.
Exactly my thoughts, word for word!Originally Posted by Kris

No reason to get excited basically if you already have a iphone4
Dont think I will be investing, waiting for the Ipad 3
iPhone 4S ? Yep, like a very interesting announcement ........but not
I've been arranging meetings with students via email this morning. I've got two replies noticeably from phones. One iphone (classicist) and one Blackberry (philosophy, politics and economics). So 50/50 so far. ;)
Best wishes,
Bob
Would be great if they in some way would integrate Siri into ios5 for the iphone4.Albeit if they did that I see no reason to upgrade early to the
new handset. The A5 chip is pretty special though.I do wonder though, what with all the upgrades in intertnals are their battery life claims feasible in
real life situations?
Frank.
The picture of the processor in the ad for the iPhone 4S appears to be a 135 watter. If so, the battery life isn't going to be great. ;)Originally Posted by frankieflow

The Telegraph quotes -
"Apple has set a price for the iPhone 4S starting at $199 (£129) for the smaller 16GB model, up to $399 for the 64GB unit. The handset will go on sale on October 14. "
There is no way on God's earth the entry model will be £129 here in the UK. Need to triple the price I'd expect.
I was really disappointed with the iPhone4s too....oh well I won't be upgrading so monies saved :)
I wonder if a lot of people will be upgrading from the iPhone4?
those prices in the USA are with contract, as far as i recall you simply cannot buy an iphone sim-free in the USA so dont compare apples and oranges!Originally Posted by mylofitz
There are a few saying they'll hold out for the iPhone 5. What is it you're holding out for? Faster processor, better camera, new OS, improved battery life, better signal?
Because from what I can tell that's what the new one has. So is it just the '5' name you're holding out for?
Chris.
I refuse to buy another iphone untill it has a 10inch screen, fits in my palm, weighs less than a neutrino, and can reverse the laws of phsics.
until such time i dont care how many free operating system upgrades Apple offers, they can go boil their heads as far as I'm concerned!
Snigger at the BBC taking the piss...

I would hate to think what they will charge for the 64GB version.

Some people (with phones other than an iPhone) often miss the point, it's not about hardware

I think people are complaining mostly because the design hasn't changed, not because of the name.Originally Posted by Normunds
I have to admit that I was disappointed at first, but if you think about it : when they switched from iPhone 3G to 3Gs, people who had both (me for example) could see a huge difference between the two phones. The 3Gs was so much better in term of performances.
I'm guessing it will be the same with the iPhone 4 and the 4s. We just have to get used to it, it seems the design evolving pattern on apple iPhone is lasting 2 years now.
I'm probably going to get one, mostly because I've been carrying around my iPhone 4 since the beginning, and my plan has ended a few months back. :drunken:
