Wow. After all these years and all of a sudden it will be a reality in no time. Nice one Eddie.
God I hope there will be more than 11 available, becuase I reallly really want one. (Says 001/11 in the drawing).
Which movement was used in the end, AS 1130?
All these years of waiting. I was giving up hope.
Looking forward to that.
Excellent - I think I can hold my breath for 12 weeks 8)
Looks nice, but how come the lugs arn't strait? Whats with the big red triangle?
*edit* just seen the original this is based on. Will you be able to move the triangle by rotating the bezel?
Do I need to break the small or the large piggy bank?
Will be a grand day when it is launched.
That really does look lovely , very well balanced and I love Cathederal hands. 8)
Can't wait.
:D
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
.
Aren't you going to put an aeroplane on the dial?

This the old Zeno, long gone now. I had a lot of fun with it and often miss it. It had terrific wrist presence and I even received a compliment from a 'knowledgeable' collector. Only sold it because I run out of wrist space.
I said last week that I needed a new watch*. Can I have No 2 please? Or 3? Or whatever you think I should get. :P
Great back!!!

* Centre Secs Unitas going on the back burner now.

Wow, that looks so good! Lovely caseback as well...... :bounce:
It's great to see this coming to fruition after all these years.
Great work Eddie.
Will this be in steel?
wow it's a nice timepiece...Eddie
Is it a limited edition for 11 pieces of watches only ?
I suspect the 001/11 is the first of the 2011 batch perhaps?Originally Posted by oca9i

It's the AS1130, commonly known as the "Wehrmacht" movement. Because of the shape and construction of the case it would have been bigger than I wanted with the Unitas 6498.Originally Posted by abraxas

And how many of these beauties have you got? Are they Choisi?

I've got 200 at the moment and looking for more. They're not from Choisi though, Roland Kemmner found them for me and they're all being serviced right now.Originally Posted by abraxas

Outstanding :)
I'm guessing from the name they were originally used in issued watches? Cousins seem to have plenty spares, always a good sign.
I love NOS movements. Screwed balances, lovely jubbly 8)
Any thoughts on this at some point Mr Platts?

Have waited years for this to happen. I will look forward to getting one finally.

I keep looking at that one although it is purely a fantasy piece, it was never originally made looking like that.Originally Posted by abraxas

Hi Eddie,
I take the No.11 as always. This is a firm order :bounce:
Nice watch! I have all 3 original watches in my collection, but I never use them. So like always, your homage is a perfect way of wearing a design I like without taking the risk to ruin my originals.
Best

Probably the best news I've heard in a long time. I've been waiting for this watch to go into production for a LONG time!
Great choice with the AS movements as well!
More info on this movement here:
http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db. ... wk&AS_1130
And quite a few movements were given the name Wehrmachtswerk, as I've just found out here:
http://germanwatch.proboards.com/index. ... thread=857
I'm not as think as you drunk I am.
Have you seen one of the versions? With a swan neck regulator :love4: :happy6: :headbang:Originally Posted by mr1973
The Unitas 6325 is another 13'' movement that also carries the byname "Wehrmachtswerk". Personally I'm not too keen on the name, they're just rugged movements which were used during the war. AFAIK the AS 1130 was produced rom the mid 30's up to the early 70's.
Watches using one of these movements that were produced after the war sometimes had "Wehrmachtswerk" printed on the dial, probably to emphasize that a rugged or "proven" movement was used.
Seems Marcello C did a limited edition using the AS 1130 some years ago that looks very tidy: blued screws, geneva stripe on the bridges and perlage on the base plate, that one has a moveable stud carrier: http://uhrentick.piranho.de/uhrentes...lloc_polso.htm (Site is in german)
And here is a picture of mine (it is in need of a clean and oil), a more standard version. (higher resolution than the ones in the Ranfft archive).

Happy to see that this long time project will become reality soon and more than happy about the AS1130.
I've been away from watches for some time now but this one will bring me back for sure

Eddie I think you may well have raised the bar with this one, I don't think I have ever been as excited about a new Precista.
Still enjoying mine 8) ......Originally Posted by abraxas

Utilitarian.....
Which is of course what it should be; fancy decoration on a military watch just seems....wrong. Good stuff Eddie - can't wait to see the finished product 8)
The long-awaited grail hints at an arrival! Very excited. This project started before I joined this forum and I'm happy to see it come to fruition. :D
