Double homage - Sub meets Explorer

    Just had to try it....

Sub case with a nice big crown, Explorer dial with shiny raised indices and of course the plexi topping :D

Pretty good lume too btw :D

    What do you think?

    Luvin it Marco,

A mixture of my two favourite models merged - and that is not necessarily a recipe for success, I like chips and I like custard for example...... Plexi is a beautiful finishing touch.

I think there is a market

I think it looks great. Would be interesting to see it on an oyster type bracelet.

    Nice!

I was considering a similar build, but with sword hands a milsub bezel insert with minute marks all the way round.

Where did you get the case and crown? Is it an ETA or DG in there?

@ all: Thanks :thumbright:, I'm quite pleased with the endresult myself :D

@ marin: It's a Daji watch with DG1283 movement (date is still present under the dial) , the dial is from Raffles and the plexi from uhrenteile24.

I like that. A pleasing combination.

I know it's heresy but I think a date window in that dial would look good too.

In general I prefer a date in my watches too, but in this case a date window instead of the "3" would look to small in comparison to the 6-9 numbers and bring it out of balance.

Drilling a hole between the 20-25 position would be an option, but then I'd prefer a black dial (which I cannot find for these movements :? )

Not too keen on the mercedes hands but everything else looks nice - especially the plexi.

    +1 :?

Re: Double homage - Sub meets Explorer

well there is certainly more consistent lume than the original explorer dial!

not sure about the raised indices though, they are a bit too glam, however, nice one!

Re: Double homage - Sub meets Explorer

It's quite hard to find a sterile/non fake dial without the raised indices unfortunately. I only know the Chronotac one, and I don't know if they're selling it separately, plus it has the stupid "perpetual calendar" line...

Just to clarify, this was only one of my mod projects, there is no production
(Thanks for the compliment though  )

The cost at the end depends on shipping and customs :?

In the end it summs up between £75 - £100, depending on the luck you have with customs.
