Thanks...
^^^ Love it, nice colours too!!
Thanks
I'd forgotten that I'd posted this.
There were a few things that I decided to do, probably because I could (and I was a bit bored!) - so went from the above to:Originally Posted by johnnyguitar

It also got lowered and some different wheels as the others needed a refurb anyway. It does me for now anyway!
^^^^^^ Ford Focus rock !!!! The wife loves hers and it's never let us down yet (touch wood) :D
I got an ex taxi 02 plate TDi estate for £150  It's now my source for any spares we need

This all makes me think that I may really need to get a new car.
That's pretty good going!! Can I have all of the plastic out of the interior for a project? :lol:Originally Posted by WORKSIMON

I'm astonished by some of the kit being driven by the folks on here. Recently I had to sell my wonderful ex-MET police surveillance and pursuit 320bhp '97 Heico Volvo S70 as the office moved location; my journey went from 6 miles a day to 52 miles a day and at between 8-13mpg I just couldn't afford the juice. :(
So I went from this:
...to this, a 2003 S40 Sport Lux. Not quite as exciting, in fact I'd go on to say downright sodding dull, but it's reliable, well equipped and cheap to run. Importantly it's only a temporary change in economical circumstances and I'll be looking to get back into an undercover road racer in a couple of year's time. :)
Oi jes trucks everywhere, an' over everythin' in moi trusty ol' Disco 2!
Comfy, 7 seats, space for the kitchen sink, or several, and surprisingly reliable!

this forum seems to cater for everything so I will ask a general car question. For a while now I have been hoping to buy a Ferrari 348/355, buying it is not so much of an issue but what concerns me is the maintanance. I just wondered if anyone has any positive or negative experiance in this respect?
No direct experience, but I've read quite a bit on this as always fancied a 328 - seems there are tons of independent specialits that can deal with them nowadays at reasonable cost, obviously way less than the main dealers. Less than a grand a year for general servicing, and allow for a biggie maybe £2.5k every few years for timing chains, clutch and the like.Originally Posted by drive2us

I had one identical to that - but mine was never that clean. The reg doesn't begin in YY does it?Originally Posted by Filterlab

My reg starts WN so not the same one. I do like the colour of mine though, as does everyone else who sees it. My mechanic adores the car which is odd given the cars he has (1968 Dodge Charger, 2005 Ford F150 Lightning, 1985 Escort RS Turbo, 1981 Escort RS2000, 2007 BMW X5), but I'll go with his opinion. :) I just wish I'd bought the T4 rather than the naturally aspirated, but we live and learn, and if I'd bought the T4 I'd have only ended up tuning it and that would defeat the point of a change for economy really.
I had a T4 for a couple months in 1999, bit of a hoot even on standard power (204BHP?) going through the front rubber. Got it off a local oil company, was less than two years old, bagged for £7k LOL
Book power was 200bhp, but in actual fact they were around 215bhp which is a fair bit for a little car. The 1.9 engine was a lot stronger than the 2.0 too and could be pushed hard. I had a 1.9 T4 on an S-plate. Huge levels of boost in standard guise meant that it never revved over 3000rpm. :)Originally Posted by GraniteQuarry

Yep - I had one too around ten or twelve years ago. I think the S40 in it's various guises was a much overlooked car (probably due to the British car buyer's obsession with buying German). They were really well built, comfortable, quick and actually pretty good to drive. I clocked up about 20,000 miles in a year charging all over the country and never spent a penny on it other than fuel.Originally Posted by Filterlab

Nope, & haven't got a clue where Pendennis castle is, but I have been to a few pubs over the years with Castle in the name and don't recall meeting any Spaniels there. :wink:Originally Posted by TheFlyingBanana

You have to budget for a cam belt service (£800 - £1,500) every three years no matter how many miles you do.
I originally wanted a 355 but could only run to an early one ( these can have issues) but a near concours 348 came up locally and I jumped at it - never regretted it as it was an "itch" that just had to be scratched.
My advice is buy the best example you can ( good history a must) and get it checked over by a specialist if you don't have the knowledge yourself.
Back to 911s now (my third)

I am hankering after a nice car again, currently driving a very practical 2006 330d M-sport and a 2008 Triumph Daytona 675SE for those sunny weekends :D

I have a S40 T4. Great for crusing. So far reliable and quite cheap on maintenance.
Mine is with aftermarket exhaust and powerchip so guess around 250bhp. Anyway 1.9 turbo is just great engine.
Will have to get some pictures, but i am afraid my car is never clean too :bom:
As my 1.25 zetec s fiesta gave up the ghost on a recent trip to cornwall, I decided to go a bit more reliable.
Opted for an '09 Kia Cee'd 1.6 CRDi, in abyss blue
Hugely impressed with it! Good economy, 7 year warranty, and bags of space.
Only complaints are the interior is a bit plasticky, and the acceleration is naff in the lower gears (on the motorway the pick-up is splendid).
