Does a minimalistic diver's watch exist?

I'm looking for a minimalistic diver's watch. Can anybody list some affordable diver's watches with the following features/specification:

    a) a winding crown at the 4 o'clock position, but WITHOUT crown guards to mess up the case's symmetrical shape (i.e. the right side should match the left side)
    b) a clean dial without the date field ruining ANY hour markers (typically the 3 o'clock hour marker is left out)

The Sinn U1 watch is a close match, except for the crown not being better aligned to the 4 o'clock marker.

The closest affordable match I've seen yet is the old Seiko 600m diver. If only it could be worn without the shroud?

I can only suggest that the crown guard is there for a purpose. Earlier watches didn't have them but later ones did and I hardly believe it's a fashion accessory.

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".

Purpose or not, I was hoping to find something shaped similar to the PD/IWC Ocean 2000 or your own initial modified design for the Dreadnought ( http://www.prs2dreadnought.com/design.htm )

    RAW TUNA.......

Here ya' go Michael, 600m sans shroud.

Reminds me of the UTS 3000M diver from the side.

This might not be very helpful, but try the Sinn EZM-2. The crown's in the wrong place for you, but the dial seems to fit the bill, despite the subtle date hiding at 4. Here's a photo of mine - I've hot had it off my wrist since I got it a week ago, and it's got some strong competition!

Also, try to get your hands on a Seiko shrouded diver. I've got a new 1000m Quartz, and it wears much smaller than its (I think) 47mm diameter.

    Hi Steve,

Can one actually wear it without the shroud or is the bezel loose?

In any case, I hope I'll bump into a similar Seiko 600M watch for a good price. :-)

    Hi,

The Sinn EZM-2 is a really great watch, and actually one which I'm considering buying.

The watches I'm considering right now are:
Seiko 600M watch 6159-7019 (or any Prospex diver)
    Sinn EZM-2
Sinn U1 (The U2's dial is just too cluttered)

    Dear nextcube welcome,

    This one: http://www.timefactors.com/images/2607.jpg
    or this one: http://www.timefactors.com/images/1193.jpg

    (From here: http://www.timefactors.com/zeno451.htm )

Appear to match you requirements. The position of the date at 4 does not spoil the symmetry of the dial.

    Hi, nextcube

    Welcome to the forum.

I think you're looking for a bare-bones, no-nonsense value for money watch. Would like to propose:

    a. Seiko diver (ignore the day-date window)
    b. Zeno classic diver.
    c. Ewan's Citizen 200m diver at GBP 55.00 offer! (again, ignore the day-date)

How about a O&W Yao conversion. This is a tool watch. Very minimalistic. It stands less than 12mm high.

For Silver Hawk: It's a different one...

Here's the GBP 55.0 one that Ewans has for sale. It's the one with sapphire crystal.

    Have a look here:

    http://www.pmwf.com/Watches/WATCHSALES/ ... sTable.htm

Its a new issue Citizen 7 auto that seems to meet your requirements. It comes with either a blac/blue face or black.

I found an interesting 500m watch which goes under quite a few different names. Looks nice, but something worries me about the quality though...

    Well...

    I'd go here:

    http://www.mkiiwatches.com/cus_w_seiko.html#case

and get it done exactly right.

There used to be a UK agent - but I don't think there is any more.

I think Europeans are now expected to order diretly from Bill.

BTW, one should allow 7-10 days for him to work through his e-mail backlog.
