I tend to go for the awkward comedies - 'Extras' and 'The Office' stand out for me. More recently I've been enjoying 'Outnumbered' and 'The Inbetweeners'. Both I think are brilliantly written! :D
Following on from the "LOST" thread I thought I would start one for all the others. I used to love "Friends" and the "Sopranos", more recently started watching "Heroes" but it got stupid. Now the wife and I are addicted to "House" Hugh plays an amazing part and his character has come on very well. Another favorite was "Wire in the Blood" I though well written. Oh just rememberes "Cold Feet" My gor I'm a Telly addict on reflcetion
What have you been watching lately or were your favorite of years passed

as a kid - used to love saturday mornings with banana splitz and the whirly birds - and hiding behind the sofa on a saturday night with dr who . man, those sea devils shat me up something proper.
in my teens - i loved the splash not the nine o clock news made. every monday morning the school playuground would be buzzing , especially if we thought wed caught a glimpse of pamela stephensons tits. later on i graduated with mash and blackadder becoming a couple of regular favourites. the orginal series of twin peaks was epic.
havnt had a telly for the past twenty years - now do most of my viewing on iplayer.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
My wife has just got me into House - blindingly good and the transformation in Hugh Laurie is astounding. We've also been enjoying The Mentalist (but not as good as series 1). Bones is quite good sometimes and another fave of SWMBO. However the rotting corpses tend to pop up on screen right in the middle of my dinner. I've recorded the new Spartacus on Bravo...not watched it yet, but concerned it will be pants.
RIP Sopranos - it was the best thing on TV ever.

I'm currently working my way through the Sopranos box sets having seen the odd episode when it was first aired.
The Wire is the only series I've watched every episode of.
I'd like to watch Prison Break and a couple of other shows but I find the majority such as Lost and Heroes OK for the first season but when the makers receive a commission to make future seasons they tend to take a basic story line and drag it out over 4+ seasons which really annoys me.
How to make an American Box set hit:
Take an average story > add a couple of compelling characters > tell the 90% of the story over a season > receive critical acclaim > get a commission for 4 more seasons > divide the remaining 10% of the story by 4 > tell each quarter of a story in 10 hour long episodes > when you struggle to fill an hour, increase the ad breaks. Tell the viewer what happened last week to begin, then delve into a characters back story, recap what's happened and finish with what's about to happen next week > write an absurd 3rd season > end on a weird finale. Job done.
Fibonacci number series....
Big fan of Dexter. The serial killer with a heart... :D
Also love House.
Well said that man! I used to love Red Dwarf (until the last couple of seasons) and Blackadder. Don't watch much telly these days, more interesting things to do.How to make an American Box set hit:

Firmly in the House camp :D

The Wire - the finest TV series EVER, buy the DVD boxset and say goodbye to your evenings for a while
Six Feet Under
The Shield
Sopranos
Curb your Enthusiasm
Outnumbered
also Desperate housewives but only really for the character Gabby who makes me so desperate
also enjoying the Good Wife which is currently on C4 and More4
If you like sci-fi then Battlestar Galactica (the new one of course) and Firefly. Only one series of that but I really enjoyed it.
I'll also watch pretty much any sitcom - regardless of how bad it is.
In the recent past:
The Sopranos
Seinfeld
Curb your enthusiasm
Currently:
30 Rock
Cheers,
Neil.
Yes Minister, The Thick of it, Cosmology, Sopranos and How I met your Mother
Band of brothers was great and watching Pacific just now, but I don't reckon it's nearly as good.
Also watching The Good Wife which is ok and Sons Of Anarchy ,which is total mince.
My all-time favourite is Seinfeld. So re-watchable and gets better every time. Also loved Alias, which JJ Abrams made before Lost. Suspend your disbelief and just go with it, it is pure entertainment. Others would be 30 Rock, Spooks, Larry Sanders Show, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Frasier, Malcolm In The Middle (so underrated) and Dexter. Rarely follow anything on tv anymore. Boxsets are the way forward.
Life on Mars
Ashes to Ashes

Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
I recently watched the Sons Of Anarchy on Five USA (the first series) and once I got through the disbelief of it I actually quite enjoyed it. Certainly not essential but it kept me occupied.Originally Posted by numberjack

Lost, 24, Dexter, Heroes, Spooks, Heroes, Prison Break, shameless, the apprentice and loads of others, thank god for sky+ as we wouldnt be able to watch them all - too many really, i think we watch too much TV!
In rough chronological order of viewing -
Thunderbirds
The A-Team
Auf Wiedersehen, Pet (the best TV ever IMO)
Miami Vice
Star Trek: The Next Generation
The X-Files
This Life
Frasier
Not really followed anything else in recent years, maybe X-Factor
Shameless, Sopranos, Band of Brothers, Last of the summer wine, Only Fools and Horses, brilliant!

Anyone who doesn't like Dad's Army should be deported. Laughing at the 'don't tell him your name Pike' joke is my acid test of a person.
I worked on Auf Weidershen pet for a year, had a great time and ended up in Arizona 8) I was on acouple of them as a walk on when needed :lol:Originally Posted by GraniteQuarry

Odd combo... but I remember watching The Thorn Birds as a young lad - Seeing Rachel Ward for the first time... I was in love. She still looks great even now.

The Sopranos
Modern Family
Malcolm in the Middle
Van de Valk
I loved the West Wing and Thirtysomething
Old stuff - The Champions, Daktari, Tarzan, The Avengers, Callan, Dangerman, UFO, The Persuaders, The Sweeney, The Man from Uncle, Hill St. Blues, Department 'S', Crown Court.
House is great, and in a similar vein (and similar to The Mentalist) I've just started getting into Lie To Me with Tim Roth - both it and his performance are exceptionally good.
For a laugh I currently like How i Met Your Mother.
The Sopranos is hard to beat, but the Wire IMO got close, which is no surprise bearing in mind it's by the same guys.
In terms of classics, the Sweeney and Hill Street Blues I can watch time and time again.
Many of the above....and Burn Notice as well.
Cheeky git  I was over in the corner, pre grey hair 8)Originally Posted by GraniteQuarry
Really enjoyed 'The Monocled Mutineer' and stuff like that. Liked NCIS but this last series has made it missable for me. NCIS Los Angeles is a big disappointment. Like 'Sons of Anarchy', this latest series on Bravo is good, hard to beleive the hero 'Jax' is from Newcastle and was in Byker Grove! 'Supernatural' used to be good but is now boring and repetitive. The Mrs and i are enjoying 'The Good Wife' and the Battlestar Galactic prequel 'Caprica' and i am enjoying 'Justified' on FIVE USA. Give Justified a go, it's well written. Oh yeah, 'Fringe' on Sky1, not seen a bad episode!
Miami Vice
This Life
Game On
The Knock (1st series)
Band of Brothers
The Thick of It
Lead Balloon
Peep Show
Anyone remember Quantum Leap ?
Great show, really got you thinking some times, as did the X Files.
About a year ago I watched Clive Owen in Chancer, I'm not sure if it was good or not but I just enjoyed the late 80's vibe to it 8)
I will throw Carrot and Powelll in the Detectives into the ring too.
For me it has to be The Wire - can't believe there are only a couple of shouts for this masterpiece

Fringe on Sky1 is a current favorite.
As for The Scheme, VisitScotland could not create a better promo!
Just remembered "Cold Feet"
Used to really enjoy that as well
Christ, just remembered a cracker:
L.A. LAW

As a kid - THE FLASHING BLADE , great theme tune too 8)
