Sorry if this is the wrong answer but I think I prefer the off-white. It's quite an "old" case shape and I think the white might just look a bit stark. Tough to tell accurately just from photos though.
Loving the black numbers though.
I've had a sample of the full lume Italian for a few months now and have posted a few pictures. This one has a C3 luminous dial and is the one I confirmed on my order.
I received a shipment of 50 of the full lume Italian this week and unpacked them this morning to photograph. I was surprised to discover that the dial is C1 luminous, not C3.
After my initial shock, I'm getting used to it and it's certainly well done but I thought I should ask the people who are actually waiting for it, so please vote for your preference in the poll.

Got to be honest and think the C3 Off-White is much more suited to the style of watch and is obviously why you'd gone for that in the first place... I assume it was a mistake by the manufacturers going with C1 for the final production run?
What's the difference please Eddie? The C3 have a slight creamy/green cast to it and is a lot(?) more effective?
It might just be the way the two photos are shot, but the original C3 looks to be a better match for the lume on the hands. Is it?
Ooooh, wait, stop the presses... how about black hands?
I am expecting a big NO

The blue on the hands looks different (on the top is much darker). Try and take a pic where the blue on both the pics appears the same, and the rest will fall into place.

Have you potentially answered your own question Eddie as to which is better....Originally Posted by swanbourne
The C3 does look better IMO, but as John said maybe the way the hands catch the light is influencing the decision.
The blue on the hands is identical on both watches, trust me  .Originally Posted by abraxas

I've tried to judge the white on merit, rather than vs the c3 option - I think it looks good, possiblly a little stark but still good.
As for comparing to the c3 version, people are more familiar with what to expect - the warmer glow does suit the watch, is it better no, just differnt.
What have the manufacturer said Eddie - either way bit of a balls up on their part!
Eddie,
So would the hands have the same lume as the dial?
If they did the diffeerence may not be so noticeable.
Rob
Right on, black hands - white lume and a black leather strap would make for a super special limited edition.Originally Posted by cmcm3

I'm not one of those waiting for the full-lume Italian (perhaps I ought to be; it's a beautiful piece) but the off-white colour of C3 looks a tiny bit greenish to me, at least in daylight. The clear white of C1 looks absolutely striking IMO.
Either way, it's a beautiful watch.

I am not a potential customer for the italian , but I far prefer the look of the first one ( C3 ) . The creaminess just sits so much better with the vintage feel of the piece.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
The C3 looks far better with the blue hands and would be my choice (It's my birthday soon, so may well be my next purchase). I agree that you could just swap the hands and strap with the C1 and it would look great though.
That is badass.Originally Posted by chrisparker

It looks as if both sets of hands have C3.Originally Posted by robcuk

I agree that some black hands loaded will C1 will save having to re-do the dials of the 50 white ones.

A good compromise if ever there were one... not exactly what you wanted originally Eddie but maybe the next batch could have the correct C3 dials, making a set of 50 exclusive C1 dials and C1 Black Hands... would be tempted myself then if my puny wrist could carry an Italian off!
I thought this was potentially one batch of 50 :?:
Eddie,
If the hands match, I like the C1.
Cheers
I voted C1, love the whitey-white, but my heart tells me it should really be C3, whitey-greeny.

If the first sample, with C3, is the same colour as the Smith 27 dial, I'd go for that.
I prefer the look of the first one as it is more in keeping with the vintage feel of the design and feels less cold than the second. As well as matching the hands.
Would these dials look any different when lumed up in the dark?
Hi Eddie,
I think it must be painful for everybody in the game to rework the dial. I' m perfectly happy with the version as it is - I don't think I would have even noticed it without your direct comparison. :bounce:

Too late now, they've gone back. The ridiculous thing is, he already had the C3 dials and made the C1 dials specially after we spoke on the phone and I said it should have a white dial. I was using the term loosely :( .

Hi Eddie,
too bad :drunken: - maybe I can buy the white dial as a spare part? Means if I really want, I can swap it later :albino:

my vote is for the c3...
Although I like the first picture (!) better, I think that C3 lume could look too greenish under most light conditions. Cream is a great color for the dial of a vintage watch, but who wants a greenish dial in daylight?!
Additionally, I think white suits you better if you are pale-skinned as me.
Subject to the condition that there would be matching lume for the hands, I would go for the white stuff and order C1. :albino:
Best,
Johannes
I just want one, any one, ASAP. I don't know which i prefer. Sod it, i'll take both. Please! :)
Both look fantastic, so the the only proviso for me is matching lume on the hands and dial. Sounds like that's sorted anyway.
Hands have to be blued regardless - essential for any variation of the PRS-20 imo 8)
My preference is for the off white C3 version - it is just so classy and has the edge. Let's hope they arrive back soon all nicely sorted.
The wait is killing me.
Whilst I am waiting for the lume dial and have voted for the C3 dial because it suits the vintage look best I must admit that the C1 is absolutely stunning :D and feel these really need to come back with some black hands (perhaps filled with some blue lume for contrast) and a nice black leather strap and then it will be such an eye catching watch that I would have to own one. 8) (if they don't get used then I would also be interested in purchasing the dial alone) Also I bet the glow from the C1 is immense, I hope there was time for a lume shot of it before they went back. :bounce:
The decision got made before I got round to answering the question, but, FWIW, I think it was the right decision.
[edit: hang on a minute... delay - arrggggghhhh!
Eddie, What is the new expected release date?]
I think I prefer the off-white C3 dial, but in an ideal world I'd have one of each with the C1 on a black strap and black hands!
I'm probably being a bit thick but why have lume on the hands at all?
If the C1 dials can be retrieved and sold, I'd be very interested in buying one for my Precista Italian :)
My very first thought, it needs solid black hands and will be perfect!Originally Posted by sjo
Another vote for the C3, it is just that bit more subtle.

yes the c3 dial is better matched with the blue hands :)
I had seen the various postings on "Full Lume Italian" on here but I hadn't really paid much attention as it didn't really appeal to me when viewed in my mind's eye. However, having seen the photos I think that I'm going to have to get myself one of these, it looks stunning!
Any news on when these are going to be available?

I asked the same question last week. In addition to the dials being wrong, the crowns weren't engraved with the Precista "P" and it's the engraving which has caused the delay. This has now been done and the gnomes are hard at work.
