Well yes that's true but it's not why I didn't take photos - it's late and I'm tired - I want to take the best pictures I can.

I really can't describe how good it looks.

I don't like the idea of the 2824 being gold plated. It smacks of the low end 2824 used by Sandoz, Invicta and other sub-lookalikes. I just hope it's not the eastern made 2824.

Is it? If I'm not wrong, the higher end 2824 are not gold plated. Wonder what Fricker is going to put into the PRS14?

  9. #59
Maybe this gold plating will be another (unintentional? ) hommage to the SM 300. I always liked the look of the pink gold plating on the old Omega 552, etc movements, lots of them look pristine even after all these years. Some of the old manual Omega 30mm still look amazing even when you take them out of a watch that from the outside looks like it hasn't seen a watchmaker in half a century!

Any grade of 2824 can be gold plated for an extra 1.5 Swiss francs each or some other ridiculously low price.

I think it's a couple of mm thicker due to anti magnetic cover 8)

Funny , cause I heard (rumor) that ETA 2824 gold plated is cheaper that than none gold plated movement.

According to the ETA price list gold plating carries an extra cost. However, it seems that I misunderstood the German specification text I was sent and the movement is nickel with gold plated balance, not a gold plated movement.

Won't the acrylic pick up scratches easily though?

Is it Polywatchable then, or does the hardening process preclude that?

An annoying American English habit I picked up, taking any noun and turning it into a verb ...

My favorite during the previous Gulf War was "to schwartzkopf someone/something" in the sense of to utterly devastate, as in "the problem has been schwartzkopfed".

That's right. Blame it all on the Americans, as usual. ;)

It is not as if British or Canadian English were rife with verbified nouns.

I think because the version of the SMP300 that is being paid hommage to had an acrylic crystal and no date.
