Thread: IS LCD BACK?

    IS LCD BACK?

Just seen this new Hamilton Pulsomatic:

Is LCD making a comeback in the 'Luxury' watch market?

I like this watch, does anyone else?

    Re: IS LCD BACK?

Yeah - I quite like it but wish it didn't have the writing on the glass. If it's powered by an automatic movement, I'm guessing it's the same (or similar) to the one Sparc Ventura were using in theirs.

Need pictures if you go ahead and get one.

    Cheers

I would like one, especially with the Hamilton LCD heritage that precedes this model, BUT the usual fiscal limitations apply!

OT: I've seen a few colleagues sporting retro LCD watches recently ...

It's interesting to see the number of people wearing high end watches asking him about his £50 Casio LCD from the 80s.

    I think it looks cool.
Won't be able to buy one (it's certain to be above my budget), but if I had the money- definitely! :)

Every thing that is "seventies" seems to be making a come back

    Re: IS LCD BACK?

Like the look of the watch, but seems pointless having an auto movement to power a LCD watch.

    Re: IS LCD BACK?

It's LCD. They couldn't work out how to fix the dreadful power consumption on the LED version (as per original Pulsomatic)

I think digital LCD has its place - I quite like its utilitarian aspect. I don't like that watch, however.

    Re: IS LCD BACK?

I was reading the e-book thread and had to google 'e-ink' to see what is was all about. Apparently there are 'e-ink' watches available - which seems to me a very good idea ( ultra-low power consumption, lovely to read ), and a genuinely 'new' technology for watches as opposed to digital which is ultimately a retro-fad, albeit a good one ( I'm still looking for a Seiko SBPG001 if anybody has one! ).

Hi guys, on the topic of LCD, i have owned a Casio F-91W for a very long time now, never let me down, been to work in it more days than I care to remember & still keeps going, no battery change....

Design Icon or complete rubbish? im still unsure....but is probably still the cheapest watch on the market! ever!

Definitely design icon. I must confess I don't like them, but they are the iconic digital watch.

Here, have a wiki article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casio_F91W

Just don't go on a plane with one
