Yup. Been around a while. Pretty good for the price.

Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
There's a Reserva Porta 6 for like a quid more and it's very good too
If you like that I think you will like this Negroamaro from Coop as well. Used to be cheaper but I’d still say good value.

Rush forth unto Tesco and buy some of this:

Piccini Memoro red. It's £7.50 with a clubcard and currently 25% off when you buy six. I always have a few bottles kicking around and friends are buying it too now.
"A man of little significance"
The old Yellow Tail Shiraz is a consistently potable budget drop in the UK and USA.
Question from a very infrequent wine/alcohol drinker: if I bought 6 of these, how long would they be "good" for? I have maybe 2 bottles of wine in an average year.
Yep, been a regular bottle in our house as well. Very easy drinking.
I like this one as well:
This is one of my favourites for under a tenner if you buy six!

Or this but a little more expensive; https://www.laithwaites.co.uk/product/0022622

Enjoyed a bottle only the weekend before last (and several before that). Has anyone tried this...link?
You’re welcome!
Another to try if you like the full bodied wines.

Toro Loco from Aldi has been our cheapie red wine of choice for several years now.
Has had a huge price hike in percentage terms like everything else post Covid, but still under a fiver per bottle :-)

This is very nice. Goes down perhaps a bit too easily. £9.75 at Tesco (maybe less with Clubcard).
Think I got carried away a little.
Although, Villa Maria NZ Sav Blanc is my absolute favourite and for me the best of the NZ Sav Blancs, and I have tried many.
Perfect for the long warm summer nights, and at less than £6.40 per bottle with all the discounts applied, an absolute steal.
Will see us through until the clocks go back.
Porta 6 at 5.20 per bottle. Where can you any half decent wine for a fiver these days? This is a very good bargain for absolutely no money.
There is pretty much a million bottles of wine out there that will be nicer for more money.
But for the price, a great honest bottle that is better than many, but not all, more expensive bottles.
Always difficult to compete with wine producing countries who apply very little tax, when a UK bottle has a minimum duty and Vat of circa £3.50, and then has to be shipped to destination.
I am amazed, if you pick carefully, just what quality value you can get in the U.K. for reasonable cost.
Sadly Mum´s Alz-dementia has put an end to that, last visit here was ´22, they came with my Sis, Ma struggled somewhat ...the old boy is old school, won´t be a burden, wouldn´t come again ´´not with things the way they are´´. Ma´s just been sent home from hospital, broke her hip about 3 weeks back...the ´´care package´´ sounds somewhat sketchy, but she´ll be happier at home and i guess they needed the bed...it´s just whether the old man can cope with her more reduced state...the Carers in his house will take some readjustment, he´s like me or vice versa, territorial.
Sorry thread deviation. House wine here is Thader a blend of monastrell, tempranillo and Cab Sauv from a bodega up the road in Jumilla, we´ve done a tasting or 2 there... though it´s sold in Mercadona, 3.80 euro...I dunno how they do it,

Only have the occasional drop but find this is a firm favourite here.
