if you paid by paypal and things go wrong just complain to paypal. they nearly always come down on the side of the buyer and refund.
Oh bugger!
I have just won a watch on ebay - IN MEXICO!!!!
I know i know - dont know what i was thinking
Bit of wine and a jamaican woodbine is not a good combo when scouting the bay - tits!
Anyway i would still like the watch - the ebayer has good feedback selling to japan, uk, china, germany etc so i think he's ok
My question is what happens if the watch goes missing
I am going to pay by paypal and i already have enough in my account.
I am thinking that if i withdraw my funds in my paypal account to my bank account and then pay by paypal (which will be charged to my mastercard) - would i have more redress should things go wrong?
My thinking is that i would have the normal paypal protection and also insurance from my mastercard if required - is that right?
Thanks for any advice and i promise not to do it again

I would credit your bravery if you hadn't already blamed the drink. I live 15 miles from the Mexican border and would hesitate to make a purchase originating there. If, as you say, the sellers feedback is good you ought to be safe.
Best of luck!
Depending on how much it is you'd be better off paying by credit card through Paypal, I used a large cash balance to pay for a watch that never showed up and once Paypal had ruled in my favour that was the end of it, I understand if I'd used my card the card company would have helped out.
What kind of watch did you buy from mexico?
Paypal are usually quite good but i lost over £400;when I recieved damaged good's from a seller.Paypal just didn't want to know and they came down on the seller's side, leaving me with a worthless item :!:Originally Posted by ktmog6uk

If the guy has good feedback and has a history of flogging watches you should be fine providing you use E-Bay. Not many dealer will jepodize their feedback for £400 quid. My only cocern with watchs from these places are they all origina l or Frankens or a mixture of gen and fake. I personally do not have an issue with this providing I know what I am paying for.
If it goes missing Paypal will sort it out - 99 time out of 100 :D .

And yes ..... it is a speedy gonzales
Thanks for the advice chaps
Will keep you posted if ...er when it turns up
I think you probably end up with the most exciting watch deal ever!
I made my first purchase from a watch forum in US a month ago on impulse and it was the most exciting watch buy I ever done. Every day I was wondering about the watch and if I got deceived or not. And when in got stuck in the Swedish customs and they wanted to know the value and then 25% in VAT another problem needed to be worked out. :?
The excitement of that purchase and the feeling when I got it in my hands got me hooked
:) :)
Is there any news? Did anything arrive or have you had to resort to PayPal for a resolution?Originally Posted by huntertz
Fingers crossed for you.. Braver than me
If the sellers feeback is good and seems to relate to similar priced items in the past, then PayPal should protect you, regardless of Card or Bank Account used by PayPal. But the seller might make you wait a few days to ensure payment is made, check they also are verified by PayPal. Best Wishes
