I do, but he is an accountant! My CEO has the smae watch as I do. But he knows nothing about watches
I thought I'd mark the arrival of my 25th post with a question. I'm looking at buying a reasonably expensive watch in the next week or so with the intention of it becoming my new daily wearer. The issue I have is only one other person at my new employer seems remotely interested in watches. So I was wondering, how many of you wear more expensive watches than your bosses to work; and do you find this has any impact on how you are treated?
I am currently looking in to any 'watch descrimination' precedents from recent court cases

Yes - consistently!
He's a nice bloke but he treasures his Sekonda.
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........

Yes, I certainly do, even when I am wearing one of my old 100 USD Seiko divers. And I am considerably smarter than him as well, although that's not saying much.
Dave
Yes. He used to have some sort of fashion watch until I gave him a 2nd hand Oris as a wedding present.
LOL - +1 :lol:Originally Posted by raydin

YUP ! My boss wears an old bi metal tag :D
Cheers

But of course!! :)
I have several bosses, one wears a Lorus, one a Oris Black TT1 Diver and one wears something that looks like it is from a Christmas cracker!
So yes...
Of course! But my boss is French & I see him once a month when I venture out to Grenoble .. besides if I did not wear a watch it would still be better than his ..
/vince ..
Mine wears a bloody fake Breitling
Always.
Colin.
Yes, although he wears a tiny 34mm Rotary his wife bought him years ago that she had cleaned up for him recently - before that, definitely - he said if he never had a watch/deskclock/mobile phone with time he could never be accused of being late for meetings!
I am the boss.....and I do wear the best watches....
Usually, but he has a quality, sensible watch (Breitling Aerospace) and he's also got a boat... =P
I'm living in France and in this country it's better not to show what you have. I don't care i wear my watch even if my doesn't understand how i can buy so much watch.
This idiot is wearing a fake of Lange and Sohne.
Yes and no. My direct super wears an old watch, sentimental value only. The owner wears Breguet...
My boss is a woman and wears shite :D
Cheers,
Daddel.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
Love it :)Originally Posted by Puller

I don't know. My last boss was a twat. What watch he had on, I couldn't care less. Haven't had a boss since, apart from one, where I wondered what it would be like to go and work for a twat again. (I didn't like it.)
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!
Don't know, I haven't met my boss to check what watch he wears.
I know I have a better car though ... as we have discussed cars ... though he might disagree ... owners of those new-fangled water-cooled ones have funny ideas sometimes ...
My watch is better than my line manager but not as good as the IT man who wears a philip stein and the MD wear a lovely Tag carrera, most either don't wear a watch or it's a lorus £20 argos special or off the tv shopping channels.
My MD wears a Cartier Santos XL, so on some days yes and somedays he wins
Yep, and I'm better looking :D.
Hell yeah! :D
My boss wears a Fossil...
Most people at work wear cheap and easy watches, including my boss, there are others who wear a bit more such as Rolexes but that's about it in my area.
The contractors who come in though, they wear some serious watches at times, i've seen a Breguet gold complications, gold daytonas, SS daytonas and other costly watches, which says to me that we need to be paid more :D
I'm retired now but when I was working I had a boss ( 20 years younger) who was also a watch enthusiast. Whereas I would wear an Omega or a Girard Perregaux, he would wear a Submariner or,more recently,Daytona. A great bloke and a great boss.
Yep, my boss wears an dress style bi-metal Omega, thinks it's a ladies model :D
I did when I was at work.
But then, my boss didn't know much about watches. Mind you, he didn't know much about what he was supposed to be managing either.
Best Regards - Peter
I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.
I've got a better watch but she's got a Maserati  - does ask me for advice what to buy her hubby though.
My colleagues in general wear dive watches of various breeds, a few Seamasters, lots of Seiko SKX007/009, Citizens, Suuntos or G-shocks. We have one remarkable guy, supposedly retired, wheelchair bound after breaking his back in a car crash 20 odd years ago who still goes diving whenever he gets a chance. Ex-SBS and tough as nails, one of the top guys in his field in the world and a very nice bloke. He wears a Rolex Sea Dweller.
I'm sure I have one, but I'm not at all sure who it is.
Best wishes,
Bob
Yes.
Andy
Wanted - Damasko DC57
No sadly, he wears a GMT Master II without fail. I don't speak to him enough to find out if he's an enthusiast or just well paid.
Since I haven't seen him in anything else I'll assume well paid. Nice watch though.
Yes, but he doesn't make a whole lot more than me, and my wife is also a professional, so ... .
I don't really have a boss as I'm an indie consultant, but both my current main clients' SROs wear plastic casio quartz watches, so a resounding YES :D
When I last had a full time boss, many years back, he used to wear a gold Datejust but drove a chavved-up Sierra Cosworth and wore big Gordon Gecko braces so i doubt if it was on a WIS basis.
Cheers,
Steve
Yes he does, but out of the 3 watches that I have seen him wearing only a gold and steel GMT masterII is more more expensive that any I have...
On the other hand I have older, more rare watches than he and I doubt if he could wear a different watch every day of the month...... (for 2+ months in a row  )
The people that work in my departments are interested but not that educated about watches... ( lots of southern european holiday bought "replica's")
On of the guys told me that he had gotten some kind of old Omega chrono from his dad years ago; I was wearing a Speedmaster markII racing dial that day so I asked him:
"something like this" No it is much bigger he replied.... Next day he shows me a black dialed speedmaster markII (badly in need of a service though)
He first was a bit shocked about the cost of the service at Bienne untill I showed him the value of that Omega in well maintained condition... he know believes that's a sensible investment.....

Of course. Believe me, that isn't difficult
"I looked with pity not untinged with scorn upon these trivial-minded passers-by"
Yes, he's not into watches, though his boss wears a Bell & Ross BR 01 with blue hands and numerals. General lack of good watches, though I do see the odd Oris and Omega.....
Yes
yep, his is sentimental value.
but of course
Don't know about more expensive, but I'd certainly like to think I wear nicer watches !
Most people I work with only have 1 watch. If I added up all the money I've spent on various watches I'm sure that would comfortably top any one watch someone else at work has.
regards,
Nick
Yes, but I now seem to be sat in a bit of a watch corner with another couple of Omega's, a couple of Rolex's and a Jaeger.
