TBH I can't be bothered to sell guitars much as they are bit harder to pack/send than watches.

    It was Strat Saturday though!

The "modified" stuff is all good.

I like the matt finish on the back of the neck, the 9.5" radius and pau ferro are fine.

The warmed up '60'S pickups sound really good too.

    A few pics:

Difficult to get a good pic of the colour.

Board is pau ferro which TBH doesn't look a lot different to my rosewood jobs.

    Cheers,
    Neil.

Been looking for a travel guitar for ages and had it nailed down to three possibles, but the GS Mini just edged it.

I also wanted the Rosewood and Sitka combo with tortoiseshell guard, which are now discontinued.

Serendipity listed this two days ago on a trusted music shop site, so seemed rude not to buy myself a birthday treat

I have the exact same one, and I love it.

Didn’t realise they were discontinued - I thought this was the most popular variant?

Another recent acquisition: a Schecter Demon-8. Bought secondhand off FB for a great price, it was looking very for itself with loads of scuffs and swirls - all polished out though. A bit of TLC and some fresh strings and now it looks and plays great. It’s quite a beast, active pickups, and as with most Schecters it needs no setup work.

What do you use to polish out the scuffs ?

From my web searches, you can get the rosewood layered in e-versions, but not on a straight guitar.

The only variant with the sitka top I found available was the sapele layered, which I've played and loved the feel and sound of, but I just prefer the rosewood appearance and the tortoise pick guard. It will sound exactly the same so purely an aesthetic choice.

    The sapele looks like this:

I have the same one. It's an awesome instrument. I found one on eBay and I think genuinely it has made me play my guitar more and more.

It's small so you leave it out and then just grab it and play it.

Looks the business, sounds the business and is clearly very well made.

For clarity, I am talking about a GS mini here!

Seem to have acquired (yet) another guitar amp - this time a throwback to the 90's with a Marshall Valvestate.

Its the 40W version. Sounds good so far, bit noisy and needs a clean etc. Will give me something to do...

Definitely has that Marshall growl and not as high-gain as you might imagine.

Here it is just as I bought it:

    That's lovely!

They're great, have one myself. Purchased new in 1989.

They are very well thought of. Some great sounds to be had.

Thanks Neil. I seem to have gone down a bit of a Marshall rabbit hole now and keep looking at others in the Valvestate range.
Do you use yours much?? Any tips or recommendations on settings etc?

After 5 months living with the GS Mini, I've learned to love it. I got over the initial short-scale teething problems, and it really is an amazing guitar considering its size and price. It went on holiday with me this summer, which was exactly what I originally intended it for, so it's all worked out nicely.

But… but… I've been missing the dreadnought size and shape. The GS is small and sitting on the 'playing chair' in the dining room it can feel like a toy sometimes, although never sounds like a toy. I just crave a bit more heft.

Anyway, I'm on a budget after some unexpected household expense, but had a few guitars in mind when this popped up, used, but in great condition, for £250:

Yamaha FG830. Cheap, cheerful and extremely well regarded on pretty much every acoustic forum I've been lurking on. I couldn't resist.

I visited the Yamaha store in Soho in early summer while I was in town and got to play the FG800, the FG830, the LL16 and the FG3 Red Label. I nearly bought the FG3 there and then. It was just perfect. I held my nerve and maybe one day I'll go back and indulge, but for now I'm looking forward to playing the hell out of the brand's workhorse.

Sorry @bambam must have missed your post!

I use the Valvestate all the time and my few pedals are set up with it.

I have a couple of other amps, a small valve job and a modeller but the Valvestate is my main squeeze.

If you haven't got one definitely get the footswitch.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Any further information, such as what models were they, why you felt you needed to try six at once?

And of course, we need photos or it didn't happen.

Sure! The "HEAVY" model, 351 shape. Admittedly I could have bought a single one, but they're cheaper in packs of six.

A better photo of what I posted a few months back, my Westone Thunder I-A. A massive part of my life from 13 to 16, and then, unplayed, hauled around like a memory for an eternity, finally getting sold a couple of years ago.

Beautifully made, but when I was fifteen I desperately wished I had bought something in a solid colour.

Very well thought of at the time and a great guitar for a fifteen year old!

The natural finish was all the rage back in the day - I like it.
