Be careful though, I find with my modelling amp I spend more time twiddling knobs than playing.
I hear you! I did that quite a lot with a Vox amp that I have, but I find that with the ME80 I don't so much as I can just step on a switch and turn things on and off. Also, as its on the floor, I tend to leave it alone mostly (so far anyway). But its great for trying out new sounds and I must try the presets and the use the amp models built into it more. Its good with headphones so you can play without actually having an amp on and just run the guitar through the effects unit as long as you use the preamp section - I find that quite useful.

I've got the same unit and use it with headphones too. You'll probably find most of the presets are pretty meh (depending on taste etc) and the OD's are a bit synthetic sounding. However I love creating ambient noodlings with the delays, reverb, modulation and expression pedal. The looper is short but quite useful too.

There's a lot of tutorials on youtube if you want to create some classic tones, the chap below has a series of them.

    Have fun!

    Cheers,
    Gary

Just taken delivery of a Keeley Dark Side pedal, only had a little play but I'm impressed so far. Loads of different tonal options, obviously inspired by Gilmour's sound, but a lot more too. If you're a Gilmour fan you'll love it but that's not compulsory by any means, it's a very versatile little pedal.

A vid for anyone interested, there's loads on youtube.

I bought mine from The Guitar Store in Seattle as B stock (supposed cosmetic imperfection or damaged packaging) but I honestly can't see a mark on it. The only slight negative is it doesn't come supplied with an adapter but that's not really a problem.

    Cheers,
    Gary

    Breathe, breathe in the air.........

That pedal looks very interesting for Gilmour fans - play on Gary.

Dark Side. I think there's a clue in the name. ;-)

The Gilmourish guy on YouTube reviewed it. It's a good 'un.

Sold my horrible old Ovation (tanglewood copy) about 6-7 months ago. Decided I needed an acoustic back in my life. Went in looking for a small body single cut and spent a few hours deliberating. As soon as I picked this up I knew it was the one. Taylor 100e electro acoustic in Sitka spruce and layered walnut. The sound projection is just amazing. Took a bit of persuading the other half to let me have it in the living room.

Looks very nice. Good work managing to keep it in the living room. Personally, I think they add to a room, especially when its a nice simple design like your guitar.

    That Taylor looks lovely.

Like you, I have a cheap acoustic in the living room all the time in case I fancy a quick strum!

    Here’s a 1990s PRS custom 22 guitar with a bit of a story.

I believe Chandler went on to become marketing manager of PRS. Sadly the Kew shop closed down a couple of years ago. Anyone ever been? They used to have some nice guitars.

And I can’t believe it’s been nearly 10 years since Gary Moore passed away...

I used to pop into Chandlers quite a bit when I lived down that way... In fact I think i might have actually bought my (long since departed) CU22 from there as well....

    Lovely shop, shame it's gone.

As a bit of an aside, does anyone have any experience with attenuators?

I've got a Budda SD18 amp which is insanely loud... I knew it would be but bought it anyway.
Anyway, I'd like to use it at more manageable levels so was looking into getting something to attenuate the volume. The Dr Z Airbrake (I think it's called) is an obvious choice and it looks like you can spend loads more...

    Any recommendations?

Some ace new guitars on display from Outatime and Petewon.

My fingers are itching to get back home to blighty for a strum.

Yup - I’ve got the guitars and amps - just missing the talent and ability!!

Added a few things to my setup the last few months, new amp (1981 Marshall JCM800 Non Master Volume), an USB interface and a Reactive attenuator/DI box.

Also got my original head and cab re-vinyled.

    Smile

I put a late night opening bid on this Hudson Bluenote studio semi acoustic (£50) and had forgotten the next day!

When I finally remembered, I was amazed to have won it!!

The seller was even kind enough to drop it at mine as i'm not allowed to drive yet after a knee replacement!!

I gave him an extra tenner for being so kind!

    Grover machines too!!

The guitar has flatwound strings, I think they're Dadd Stainless but quite heavy 12's, Have to say I love the flatwound so i'm going to get some 10's and replace them!

The action is quite high so I dropped it to the max on the adjustable bridge but still too high, Also, The nut needs cutting deeper, I'm not sure if the heavy guage strings have pulled the neck forwards causing this but looking down it, If anything it seems too far back!

I may have to take it in for a setup!!

    Who can spot the mistake??

EDIT- Forgot to say, I did some research before bidding on it, It seems the consensus of opinion is that these instruments came out of the same factory as Tanglewood guitars

Can empathise with the offspring taking a shine to things, finally managed to snag a MusicMan Stingray Classic bass in sunburst with awesome flamed maple neck, hands down the best bass I’ve ever owned, only problem is my 12yo is getting very good and loves it as much as I do...

She's calming down now, Must be as she brought me a cuppa!!

She smokes, I don't so I told her that if she spent a hundred quid in fags and I spent a hundred quid on a guitar, I still had a hundred quids worth of guitar that I could get my money back on but her money is gone up in smoke!!

    Strangely, She went quiet!!

It's an early one with diamond markers and mahogany sides and back..

About time I did one of these.

Here are a few of mine.

Fender Custom Shop 2018 NAMM LTD - not really fan of relics, or indeed strats, but this thing sounded amazing with the Ancho Poblano pick ups.

You can see the aging here and the dirt added to the trem. I want to clean it all out...

Gibson Les Paul Custom - 59 Standard VOS Tobacco Sunburst - Always been a dream guitar. Played loads until I found the one that sang the way I wanted it to.

Gibson SG Standard - Wife bought me this 10 years ago. Played it for 1000s of hours.

Gretsch G6228FM Players Edition Jet BT - a new recruit. Jury is still out as I can't get it set up the way I want.

    Amps

Blackstar HT5. Got this the day I got the SG. Great distortion tone.

Katana Air. The Amp I play the most. Plug the transmitter in the guitar and it all starts up. I have a line out from the PC and use that for backing tracks. Takes headphones so great when kids are in bed.

Fender Princeton '68 reverb - when there nobody in, this gets cranked. It's a recent addiction to match the Strat.

Pedalboard - not much interesting on here. I only really use the plexi drive and the tuner.

In other news, new pedal on the way. I saw it on a TPS pick and mix show about 6 months ago but couldn't get a hold of one. Found a few on Reverb but quite high prices + shipping due to being overseas. But discovered that Chase Tone had a limited run going so managed to snag one for $125 including shipping. Really looking forward to this one.

Ordered! Thanks for the heads up on this, I've been after a good Fuzz Face for a while and this one sounded incredible on TPS.

I looked at a couple of dozen at the various online dealers who use good pictures of the actual guitars they sell before deciding on this one, some had more striking grain patterns with sapwood on some, but plainer backs, but I wanted something that looked nice all over.

    The back . . .

I also changed the plastic bridge pins for Taylor's own ebony with abalone inlays, the plastic truss rod cover for ebony with an inlay, and bought an ebony violin peg that I cut down, drilled and set a screw into to replace the steel strap button. Next, and finally, will be a set of black Gotoh 510 mini tuners.

Got this a couple of months back, forgot to post the pic! Forgive the 'arty' shot, my daughter took it using some app on her phone. Its a Squier Jazzmaster Deluxe - quite different to a Strat (which is good as I wanted something different). Still getting used to it, the pickups are pretty powerful.

I've had 2 black/black/maple P Basses and a Musicman Stingray 3EQ in the same colour scheme. I like the G&L I've got now because it sort of ticks the '52 box, but the plan is to trade it for a Tele Deluxe (the more recent one with the gold pickguard) and put a black pickguard on it - either that or another USA Standard in black and then I'll get it routed for a humbucker. I think a Deluxe would be too nice to butcher. I'd also like a 3 pickup Tele - like the Nashville ones - at some point.
Not sure whether it's due to lockdown madness or a midlife crisis but have just clicked buy on a Nashville Deluxe Telecaster, despite not having picked up a guitar since the eighties, figured that I have plenty of time to practice for the foreseeable future. It was nearly always going to be a Telecaster, it came down to a choice between this one or a Thinline Telecaster. I also ordered a Vox AC30 headphone amplifier to keep the neighbours happy. I know that I should have gone into a shop and played around with a few different guitars until I found what suited me, but that's not going to happen for the time being.

Can anyone recommend online resources for learning again from scratch?
