You're probably right. Watches like cars can be subtle or flashy. The engineering can be crude but effective or exquisite but low key.
Personally, I would never dream of buying a watch with marque branding unless I had the car to match 8)
Inspired by a comment on one of my recent threads, i concluded my watch/es do match my car in some, or even several respects.
Panerai's in various guises for me, but they are all chunky, big and noticeable. To some, they're 'in yer face'
My only car, post divorce, is an X5, which i guess you could easily say the same of :!:
Is that a surprise i wonder, or is there a subliminal aspect to these sort of decisions that we make :?: Or am i just showing my sarf London geezer roots still

Watches match your car/s?
F.T.F.A.
My car is a double cab truck (which I do not need as an economist!) but I tend to go for dressy watches, so a no for me.
Not for me! I wear my SD/IWC/Sinn when driving my Skoda Fabia VRS.
I can take my watch with me, but I worry about my car when I leave it parked.
Had several Audi's vandalised, but I am OK now as the Skoda is left alone.
Wolf in sheeps clothing I tell myself.
Regards,
Charlie.
I wear too many different sorts of watches to say my watch matches my car, i'd have to have 14 different cars!! :D
Some of mine do, I have a liking for 1970's Seikos, especially the 6139's and the 6138's. Both of which were built around the same time as my 2 Scimitar GTE's.
I also have some later Seiko quartz watches, with which I am not quite so enamoured......... much like my Volvo V40
Fiat Punto + Ball Fireman Night Train = FAIL
Chrysler PT Cruiser and mostly Seiko divers. Must be a retro thing

I like cars, I like watches, but as to whether they match, I've no clue .. I like driving top down & always do regardless of time of year or day .. the only time the roof goes up is when it's raining & not always then ..

Funnily enough - yes (sort of).

Ignorance breeds Fear. Fear breeds Hatred. Hatred breeds Ignorance. Break the chain.
No not at all.
Watches interest me and TBH I have nil interest in cars anymore as long as they are fairly new and reliable.
I don''t think any watch would match my Nissan pickup.
Cheers,
Neil.
I wear a manual watch and ride a bicycle to work, so both relay on my input to get them going.

Rolex Exp1 / BMW 320 Coupe. I know, wanker.

Clearly my watch is a better match for a Bently - same font/logo ....Originally Posted by PeterM

Don't really know if my cars matches my watches. The Panerai is on even if I'm driving my Toyota Aygo........... :?
What watch would match my people carrier? Many functions? Large and lumpy? Just a bit boring.Originally Posted by wangan

How much extra kudos do you get for matching car and dial colour (black and white excluded)
Perhaps if I could afford any car and any watch they would match.
:thumbleft: Good man! - perhaps we should get our own sub-forum :lol:Originally Posted by JOHNC74

car free so my answer is
I wear a Glycine Airman 2000 and drive a Nissan Skyline R33GTST.
Both are not made any more, both are very good at what they do for not much money and most people would recognise neither unless they actually knew what they looking at.
So in my case, err... yeah, my watch matches my car.
I also have a Volvo V40 and a Tissot PR50 which are both very good for the money, do just what you want but with a couple of nice extras and nobody looks at them twice, so they match as well.
:)

I have a Rolex Submariner 16800 and I drive a VW Polo.
I will let the others decide if this is a match .

As a petrolhead this thread is making me insanely jealous. Currently my small collection of watches is worth considerably more than my car!
True Mike, but the car isn't Bentley powered either really is it? :lol:Originally Posted by Mike Wood

My Volkswagen :D
I've never taken any proper pics of it, so I suppose I could post some in the "member's cars" thread now I've been outed :)
Lotus Elise - well engineered, not commonplace, form & function, black, quite quick.
Sinn EZM1 - well engineered, not commonplace, form & function, black, +4 secs a day.
Nice Continental, a proper gentleman's carriage 8)

I would like to find a 1975 Sicura MG 50th Anniversary chronograph (at a reasonable price) to match my MGB.
Having said that, an MG TA to match my Omega HS^8 aircrew watch from WWII would also be cool!
