    Favourite and least favourite pets

Show us phots of your animal chums.

Here are my two contenders - you can probably guess which is which! :)

    "Phoebe"

    "White Cat"

    Both rescue jobs.

    Dave

the old beat up cat looks like he's a bit of a character!!!

can't say i've ever had a 'least favourite' pet (they've all been fantastic!!)

here's the only pet we have now, a norwegian forrest cat called smokey...

we got him from the local cat sanctuary after our previous mouse catcher died of old age (that was sophie, she was a rescue cat too)..

he's quiet a big bugger (and still growing!!!), the straw mat that he's laid on in the pic is now in the dump as he loved fighting with it and ripped out the centre, killing it instantly

the mat was around three feet in diameter, when the mogg stretches out (or used to!!), he almost touched both sides

    and a moody look!!

Have no pets .. don't have the time to look after them, not that I'd want one if I did .. too much responsibility ..

Vince- that's a much better attitude than the people who have pets then don't look after them, they should be so responsible :thumbright:

No pics to hand, but 2 Bengal cats as current pets :) Worst pet I've had was a Cockateil. Not often you can term a small bird as violent, but this one was. Right nasty piece of work

Turnip & Swede (wife named them  ) rescued by the side of the M3 by my wife after they had been dumped

Turnip lost a leg and most of her left rear end due to a terrible cancer. The vet said he had never had a cat survive such invasive surgery before. Thankfully now over a year later she is fine.

Cost £2k though and with only one bum cheek the poor bugger poops sideways now :?

Here's Vickie, who sadly died from a heart attack earlier in the year aged only 5:

And here's Lottie, another rescue cat we got 3 or 4 months ago. Blacker than a very black thing

Anyway, too many cats, let's see some dogs and fish and stuff as well :D

Taken a year ago when the Borzoi (Boris) was 6 months old. I'm 6 foot tall and he can easily plant his paws on my shoulders, he is without doubt the dumbest dog I've ever owned.

The Alsation (Rhana) is probably the cleverest I've ever owned, sadly she's in the last few weeks of her life. Her hips are shot, and the brain has started to go, but she's had a good life and reached 14 years of age. We'll know when her time has finally come.......... as soon as she stops chasing mopeds, that'll be it.

Well, you can't fault her for taste. Here is my pride and joy although she's actually my Fathers'. A 6 year old Jack Russell/Collie cross.

    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

I read that a male weighs 2 stone. Huge for a cat. And that they like to climb in the house if they're left alone for long and destroy things. Can't imagine him on my bookshelves. He is beautiful though. Grooming?

When I had two ordinary moggies together they'd eat less that a tin a day. I often wondered if they had a second home. Just one left now. :(

crumbs- he must be stunted then, the missus got on the scales with him then without him, he only weighs one stone (poor li'l runt!!)

he definitely loves ripping stuff to bits (the new mats that replaced the straw one, he's killing and actually eating them already  , they'll have to go so that he doesn't damage himself by eating them...)
he also loves climbing, when he gets up on a shelf, i'll shout at him and he gives me a look of utter contempt :?

the wife brushes him daily and he loves every minute!!!

    regards, john :)

    Hi,
Yes they love rabbits and squrrels! He goes freakin mad when he see's a squrrel.
Hes managed to get hold of 2 rabbits and killed them, chased one, grabbed it, got a good hold on the neck and crunch. One final little squeek from the rabbit and..... dead  Then hes walking along with the rabbit in his mouth, proud as punch.
The 12 stringer was just a cheapy Vintage V400 electro acoustic, I bought while trying to learn the guitar, I always fancied a 12 stringer because they sound so good, also my teacher at school had one which he used to play in lesson, so that always made me want to learn.
Not enough time or patience, so its now been sold to a friend who will use it for what its made for.

Cats make me itch and sneeze, if it were not for that I'd have no problems with them. Always had a dog since I was a child and currently have a long haried German Shepherd.

Cats, no thanks :D not that I would ever harm one but I am a dog man   (that sounds very wrong).

To be more specific Boxers for me have to be the best breed of dog in the world. A few pic's:

Molly our 9 year old brindle

and Tasha our deaf white boxer who is 8

Both superb dogs and companions neither like cats, not one little bit.

    Cheers

That's one chilled out looking cat - though from my experience there is a very fine line between chilled out and frenzy of claws and teeth with our feline friends.

This is Noddy. Poor little guy spent his first three years living on the balcony of a council flat, and is possibly the noisiest cat I've encountered, presumably because he was neutered rather late.

We have another cat as well, but as he's a black cat and is currently sleeping on a black sofa, he will have to wait for a while.

Sigh. . . no pets, due to two young children and a fulltime job.

Can't stand people that tell you they've got a bad dog - just because they are too feckless and idle to exercise it. There are no bad pets, only bad owners.

I'll get a decent aquarium together, once I've got some painting done around the house (paint fumes being highly toxic to fish) - but no one can convince anyone that fish make decent pets.

There is a massive english bull that lives near me, who I think is the most masculine looking dog I've ever seen. Got to know him a little better than I wanted to when he tried to mount my ridgeback puppy during her first season! His owner had him on an extension lead and was letting him wander in front. He was making his moves on my bitch before his owner had walked around the corner.

Lukily my dog was too tall for him to get on properly and he was friendly enough to let me push him away while he was trying to get on the job. Hate to think what the puppies would have been like.

Fantastic dogs - although I am very biased!

These are old pic's of our bitch, Amber, who is just over 18mths now. Would really like to get another ridgeback, but I don't think it would be fair while the 14yr old Shih-Tzu is still around. She gets trodden on enough by one of them and I just have this image in my head of a whirlwind of playfighting ridgebacks landing on top of her!

Our other cat - Pan Black Face. He's lived in a few places having been abandoned as a kitten. He's a mixture of misanthropy and affection, so a pretty good fit for me.

An unfortunate update for Pan Black Face. He was taken ill on Saturday evening and has been in the vets ever since. He's having surgery right now to investigate a blockage in his digestive tract, but the outlook isn't good at all. I'm really struggling at work at the moment, far worse than when my parents were ill - no idea why that is, although the fact that he was bouncing around happily on Friday and now this has suddenly happened is possibly a factor.

Like most/all pet owners I've been there and truly sympathise - especially as some people really don't understand how it can affect you.

Best of luck obviously, but totally know how you feel :(

Sadly, Pan Black Face didn't make it. He arrested as soon as he was given anaesthetic, and that was that. We've never really known how old he was, but he was certainly no more than middle aged and it's terrible that he should just go like that. Trying to look on the positive side, although it now looks like he'd been ill for some time, he lived a full and very happy life right up to Saturday, and I'm sure he knew how much we both loved him. Whilst we (or rather, the vet) did everything we could to save him, I do wish in a way that we hadn't taken him at all and that he could have died at home rather than in a strange place, but it was just so bloody sudden that we had no idea that it would happen. We're going to miss him so much.

I feel for you, we recently lost two cats in 12 days and it's surprising how hard it hits you. I still think I can hear them padding around the house and feel them jumping on the bed in the small hours.
