I like BMWs, great drive (had e36 318is coupe, proper kart)

I can't stand Mercs, hideously aspirational

 Reminds me of an incident a few years back sat on a train. Got chatting to this family, the elder lady of the family said she wanted a new A class but they didn't do a tiny one any more. I suggested the little Audi knowing full well that its superior in every way to the old A class, she turned her nose up and said no way it had to be the quality of MB, one couldn't have an awful cheap Audi. Funny really that even when MB trot out utter junk like the first gen A series and old ML there is still a big queue of brand snobs waiting to get that 3 pointed star sat on the drive.

I'm a bit of a Mercedes fan, so definitely would go for them over BMw.

Also explains why I have had 3 of them :D

Just bought a 6 series coupe - it's bloody lovely - pure luxury - and grunt - the thinking man's BMW.

BMW ALL the way - Merc consistently receive reports of 'boring drive etc' (except the 'Black ofcourse  !)

Out of interest which colour combi ?
See Sytners just shifted my previous 650i Sport Silver grey / cream leather ??

    Cheers, Peter

    Re: Mercedes or BMW?

Although I've had two 3 series BMWs and loved 'em both, I've recently had two A6s as company motors.
An ideal tool for slogging up & down the motorways, but not so much fun on the twisty stuff (Snake Pass was a hoot in the 320d).
That said that was only ever 10% of my driving. On balance the A6 fits my purposes better these days.
I moved away from Sheffield 3 years ago :( - so twisty stuff is <5% now - And the kids don't like 'enthusiastic' driving

The A6 has a fantastic interior, plus the A6 doesn't have the annoying habit of grounding on speed bumps
(BMW Sport suspension a bit too low for UK roads IMHO)
So at the moment - Audi - though in 2.5 years I might be on for a change.
Both the new E and 5 get good reviews, but so does the XF - nice decision to have to make :D

I agree, but for these purposes it'd have to be a BMW, perhaps an M5 or if I could fit the family in, an M3.

    Neither.

With a gun to my head it would be BMW - I prefer to drive than be driven.
