Generally I only spend what I've got saved up, i.e. no credit cards or loans, but I often sell a watch or a lot of watch accessories to fund another purchase. When I was a poor student, I sold my beloved Technics SL1210 turntables to purchase a Moonwatch. I miss those turntables. :cry:

Seriously, sold my collection of vintage Vans and Converse. Convinced myself that a grown man should NOT collect trainers. Watches are fine.

I have a 66 VW Splitscreen all original camper (no rust as imported from a very hot place), which I considerd flogging, but wife and the kids would never forgive me. The choice was the single life and more watches or married bliss, a camper and fewer watches....hmmmmm?

Here is my story although I must say that this is how it turned out as this could not possibly be planned!

Many years ago I turned an old Sekonda (Yea, yea, I know, I was not into watches then)into my first gold watch(which I still have :D )

This is how it went.
I sold the Sekonda for a small collection of bleached Piranha skulls :shock: I then sold the skulls for three cardboard boxes full of individually cased mineral samples. :shock:
After a year I sold the mineral samples for about :shock: eight times :shock: :D what I paid for the Sekonda and bought my first gold watch with the money. I eventually had the mineral samples back in a swap for a spare pair of binoculars I had. Still got the mineral collection to this day! :D

Just the other day managed to convince my fiancee that the JLC I wanted from STM was my wedding watch which it is going to be. Just goes to show you that if you find the right angle with the Mrs she will offer to pay half!!
