Jeremy your crazy but not alone. there was a thread on this sort of illness recently.
Why isn't the crown emblem on each watch always the same way round when screwed in ??...........surely they all have the same number of threads. If I was Mr rolex I'd make sure they all wound in to leave the crown points up to 12 oclock and parallel with the case.............or maybe it's just me !!............?
Cheers.

I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday on my sub, that the crown is sideways when screwed in tight, i even tried to screw/unscrew to see if it was just me
What's the medication for this illness ?...........kind of glad it's not just me......

My girlfriend just usually looks at me like i should be in an institution and makes a huffing noise and that is usually enough to make me stop thinking about it...for a while
The SWMBO actually asked me about one of the watches, why doesn't the crown symbol align nicely.. argh! It didn't bother me before!
I may have heard "Finely engineered masterpieces indeed" muttered..
Have had the same throught....They do have the same threads, but bear in mind that the crown tube is also screwed into the case. It would be a bit of a nightmare to get the crown tubes, cases, crowns and coronets all machined identically and scred in the right amount just so the coronet was the right way up when screwed in!!
Cheers
The only watch I own where the logo on the crown always lines up, is the Bremont ALT1-C. It may be a bit of a 'mare to manufacture, but at least the propeller's always straight and level!

Obviously asking too much on a watch costing more than three large :wink:Originally Posted by brucey

I just wanted to add an amusing note - I found a fake Sub in the bottom of a box, and the crown on the crown lines up perfectly when the crown is screwed in. If the fakers can manage it, why can't Rolex :?:
Sounds like another thing to look out for when checking authenticity... if it lines up put a hammer through it :bom:Originally Posted by SimonConnell

Yep,
We've done this topic to death several times on here
Never crossed my mind until someone raised it. Now I`m checking the alignment on all my screw-down crowns and sadly none align correctly. What's even sadder is that I`m slightly....very very slightly....disappointed :(

This has set me thinking.....I`m gonna play with the wheels on my car to get all the Jaguar wheel centres to sit in the same orientation, then park it carefully so they all sit the right way up. Might end up with a hernia pushing it down the drive to get them smack-on, but perfectionism does come at a price :D :D :D
Come on guys, lets get real and kill this thread

I have only one watch with a screw down crown that alings perfectly and thats my DN. My SD is almost 180 off.
You have to keep flipping until you get one that lines up perfectly. Like my Daytona. :P
My Sinn 103 lines up perfectly. Not sure if it's by luck or judgement.
I have a Panerai Ferrari FER 00003 Granturismo GMT which has a prancing horse on the crown which lines up perfectly. To do this you line up 2 red dots, one on the case and one on the crown, push the crown in and give 1/4 turn and Bobs your uncle.
my GMT doesn't line up  ... yet my Damasko is perfect
