Why have they put a different coloured lume on the hands? I think it would look better with blue lume on the hands as well.

Don't like the orientation of the hour numerals, the 6 looks like a 9 to my eyes. Rolex, Omega ... I much prefer the vintage or at least older watches.

I REALLY like the look of that but then again I have no long standing relationships with the older classic Rolex models. If I'd become accustomed to the original DJ I'm not so sure I would like this.

Fabulous photos. But a likely list price of well over £4,000...

    Thanks for the link.
If they also did this dial on the 36mm version, it would be a perfect dress piece.
It looks a bit out of proportion to me now.
But maybe the owner got fatter wrists over the years....... :)

    Cheers,

    Daddel.

Don't like the the bezel, dial or cyclops on that particular watch but apart from that it is ok  doesn't the crown look a bit small on that case?

    + another few.

That is how you know it is a 'walk along the watch parts bins' watch. They have not designed it or thought it through.

Quite a let down Mr Rolex :pukeleft:...Omega are taking the lead with perfect matching paint day and night.

    Wow !

Awesome looking watch, really like it.

Always liked the look of a datejust but it is really small for me, looks ridicoulus, but now there's one for me too ! :)

Some (maybe?) dumb questions; have it been released yet & what's the cost? (I'm in Sweden if that matters).

I feel reluctant to be critical as it sounds as if one's resisting change, and maybe I'll revise my opinion. But for now, I can't help feeling that what was so nice about the older DJs was the fact that they packed in a lot of watch loveliness into a perfectly proportioned dimension: they didn't need to depend on gigantism or exaggeration to make their point, and I never felt that I was wearing a watch that was too small. Nor did I ever think that the watch was unreadable and find myself wishing it had a tonne of lume stuck to it.

If they were going to do this they should have simply released a new model of watch that was distinct from the DJ heritage. This larger DJ seems to deviate from the consistency of a classic design model. Maybe it'll impact (positively, or negatively) on how the older models are looked at in future.

The numerals just don't work for me. Face looks confused and crowded for my liking.

I quite like it,but buy it? 4K  no way! A white Milgauss for less money or a green glass at the same, no contest

Re: Some nice pics of the bigger Rolex DJ II

I'd like to see a different dial, one maybe with markers rather than big stupid numbers, before I write this new DJ off.
As an owner of classic 1987 DJ, I hoped that they would just evolve that but in a slightly bigger size but they seem to have tried too hard and erred on the side of bling rather than classic.

I don't like the layout of the numerals, the mis-matched lume is odd and the price is too much for me - but I'm not the target market.

I'd love to see a T-O-G in this size, though.

whatever you think of the styling there can be no excuse for the mis-matched lume...

It's not the first time either, They did it on the new Airking a year or two ago...I think pink dial hour markers and whatever they could find hands

Yep I have a new style oyster-perpetual with the black dial and pink markers. The markers glow blue and the hands are green. Maybe its so you can distinguish hands from markers better in the dark - but to be honest the lume isn't strong enough to be much use anyway!!!
