    Sinn 656 vs Damasko DA36

    Hi,
I'd like to ask you opinion on which is a 'better' watch. I've never owned any of them but both a highly regarded. Comments appreciated.

It's not necessarily the 'better' watch, but I would take the 656 purely because you get the option of the bracelet. However, I think the 36 is slightly larger than the 656 so depending on your wrist size that may be a consideration.

I found this useful in the reviews section:

    viewtopic.php?f=5&t=25371&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=Dam asko

Not really a comparison, more a train of thought.

I have both and am very happy with each of them in slightly different ways.

The Damasko is more 'tool' looking, the steel colour can be mistaken for plastic by the uninitiated. Everything about it says it is a superbly made watch, but it wouldn't pass for a dress watch.

The Sinn is more versatile, it doesn't look quite so 'tool' so works better with a suit generally than the Damasko. Again, it's superbly made, and it does offer a bracelet (and I'm a big fan of Sinn bracelets). It wears smaller than the Damasko (38.5mm vs. 40mm). I love the austere clarity of the dial, it's a real signature piece for Sinn IMHO.

Which is better? Depends what you want. If I was reduced to only owning one of them, it would be the Sinn. Why? Partly the versatility and partly because it's such a wonderfully individual looking piece, and a future classic. I wouldn't be unhappy if I was left with only the Damasko (frankly, I'd still be chuffed), but my choice would be Sinn.

Thank you for your opinions. Does the Sinn wear significantly bigger on the wrist for a 38.5mm (my wrists are puny).

I find the 656 a perfect size, wears pretty much how you'd expect. My wrists are 17.5cm:

    Both great quality IMHO.
But I can't live with the yellow seconds hand and that day-date function.
The dial design of the 656 is far more pleasing to the eye for me.

    Cheers,

    Daddel.

I'm a big fan of the 656. An extremely classy design, and overall a future classic....

Couldn't have put it any better.

FWIW, the 656 doesn't look small on my 9" wrist, but I also wear 34mm watches (the GG-W-113, though on a 20mm strap). :D

Damasko every time for me :) A great understated watch & with the right strap can look very classy ( IMHO ) for a daily wearer .

I prefer the dial + the day/date . My greatest love is the yellow 2nd hand ,..... IMHO it what makes the DA36 8)
