Sumo - got new "contacts" - Sapphire AR

    How do I look? :)

This crystal is from Harold - AR Sapphire

Changed by reputable watchmaker, pressure tested and back on the wrist: very happy with the result:)

Is it just the camera angle on the last shot it appears that the crystal is riding above the bezel I've had one of Harold's AR coated crystals in stock for a long while just not got round to having it fit these were supposed to have exact dimensions to the original crystal.

Very nice - why Seiko elected not to fit Sumos with sapphire crystals in the first place I'll never guess :drunken:

It fits nicely, geran - the crystal is leveled with the bezel - I agree, on the picture it looks like it's above :)

The watch maker asked whether it was a Seiko crystal - I said NO :( ; he wisely cautioned me and explained the variability in quality etc., he could not warranty the final results until he tries (fit, pressure testing etc.) - ...however, he was very happy when I met him to pick it up - perfect fit, he said, I was :bounce:

It took too much out of the watch worrying about scratching it when fitted with the original crystal.

    Regards,
    M

Sweet - AR makes such a big difference to a watch and make it look even more expensive. Does Harold only sell pre-coated crystals, or does he coat existing ones? Is there a link?

    Is it flat or domed?

I do like the dome on the standard one, but would of course prefer it to be sapphire.

The sapphire I had on mine was domed like the original... it is a very small dome though, but it is there :)

For the price I can't understand why it doesn't have sapphire as standard, and everytime I look at one of these it just makes me want an MM300.

I like this crystal on a Sumo. The perfect upgrade. (In fact, I like all yobokies Seiko sapphires).

Cheers for that - I'll pop him an email. Would definitely love to get AR on a couple of my watches.

Nice one. I've been meaning to do this to mine for a while now. Not because I prefer sapphire - I love my hardlex on divers - but because I want topreserve my original hardlex crystal. I will wrap the hardlex and store it, and use the sapphire for everyday wear.

I love Hardlex on my Seiko diverīs, and this is the furthest I have gone "modding" the great Sumo:
