    Dubey & Schaldenbrand spring pics

Someone recently had some interest in this watch which I currently have. It's a Dubey & Schaldenbrand Spiral One. It's novelty is the "Isoval" spiral recoil spring located between the dial and crystal. I took some pictures of the dial today to emphasize the spring, please keep in mind I am not a photographer. At the center of the watch you can see the spring.

I also took a pic of the hand engraved movement

Does it mean that, in the original model, the recordable elapsed time is limited by the length of the spring? If so, what will happen then if the chronograph is still engaged? Or is there a mechanism built into the movement to disengage the spring after the allowable elapse time is reached?
