    My first 2 Mods

Hi all, first post here and I thought I'd show a couple of recently completed mods.
First up is a 6106 that I found on the bay. It was a combination of a couple of watches (an 8510 and an 8229) so rather than restore it as I'd initially intended I went down the mod route with hands from Harold and a new dial and bezel insert from Noah. Not sure if the bracelet is right, I may go for something a bit wider.

The second, which has a similar inspiration, was a bit trickier. This was an SKX031 that I picked up on the bay as the base for a mod. The movement was shot so it didn't cost much. I replaced the movement with a nice new one from Noah with the black day and date dials. The day dial had to be reset so that it fitted a 3 o'clock crown. The dial is from Harold, again it had to lose it's feet and be realigned with the help of some homemade dial dots, as is the AR sapphire and the stainless chapter ring. The M and H hands are Harolds and the seconds came from Noah. The bezel insert is from Alpha watches. A bond-style NATO from Watchadoo finished it off (very comfortable too!) All in all a fair amount of playing around, but I'm really happy with the result:

Big thanks are due to both Noah and Harold for providing such great bits for us to play with!
Oh, and my next one is going to look completely different!

Yes it is Arabic. I've got a thing for the non-english day wheels and this is one of my favourites. :)
It needs a little tweek next time I open it up to align it properly.
The red is, of course, Friday!

Great work for a first attempt.
I can only hope that mine is as successful.

Can i ask what you found the most challenging in doing these?

We all know Harold and Noah, but can you please say more about Alpha who supplied the bezel.

Good work, where is the next one :bounce:

Probably the most challenging things were in the SKX mod. Most of the aftermarket parts available for the 7S26 movement are aimed at the SKX007 and its like, with a crown at 4. This meant that I had to realign the day wheel on the new movement that I bought to replace the broken one in the original parts watch I bought. A fine scalpel separated the day dial from the toothed wheel/cog that it was attached to and I then reset it with some very carefully applied two part epoxy. I made sure it was aligned properly by setting it on the old movement, so that wet glue came nowhere near my new one.

I also had to remove teh dial feet from the new dial that I bought from Harold. He had previously used one of these dials in a SKX031 and suggested glueing the dial to the movement spacer; that was a bit too permanenet for me so I went to my local hardware giant and bought some 0.5mm double sided tape - that is more usually used for securing rugs to floors or carpet underlay - cut into very thin strips it holds the dial on very well.

Alpha watches are a chinese watch manufacturer who make a number of homage watches. They also sell a number of parts direct via their website and the bezel inserts that they sell for their "Planet Ocean", "GMT Master" and "Submariner" watches are a straight, but tight, drop in replacement for the SKX031.
The inserts are on pages 5 and 6 of their Accessories:

I posted that one with the title: New Seiko Mod - it's very different and was even more of a challenge.

It's changed a few times in the year since I first posted this, I never really got on with the bezel insert so after a few months that went and was replaced by one of Noah's...then the bracelet was swapped with one of Eddies NATOs and this was the result:
