    Wabi is seasonal

I've had my SB3 for three weeks and have only taken it off to shower.

Inspecting the watch, it's as new, with no marks, even small ones on case or crystal. So I'm a happy bunny for having a solid watch. Then I had a thought about why it's still in good condition. Wabi is seasonal.

Because, in the colder months, any watch I wear is covered with clothing, long shirt sleeves at the very least. I might ding the watch in general wear, panic, pull back the sleeve and feel relieved I haven't damaged it.

Now the weather is warming up, I'll be in short sleeves, more active and more likely to damage any watch I'm wearing.

How many times have you walked through a door and caught your watch on it? I hate getting damage from desks and tables.

So, for the next few months I'll try to be more careful and wear a beater more often until the safer weather comes around.

    "Wabi", not "WABI", surely?

For me it isn't seasonal because I wear my watches loose so they fall below the cuff. And I wear t-shirts or roll my sleeves up to climb/train/fight.

I thought it was based on the Japanese term. http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=define%3A+wabi

    Hi
Enjoying my month old SB3 it is rarely off. I didnt believe the hype before i bought it and wear it everyday mine will be my four seasons for a while saving for another watch, though looming redundancy make prolong that dream, will struggle to say "better " quality but a 2k brand.
So many to choose from and im learning alot here.

Yeah, i thought it was 'Wabi' as in Wabi Sabi:

Pared down to its barest essence, wabi-sabi is the Japanese art of finding beauty in imperfection and profundity in nature, of accepting the natural cycle of growth, decay, and death.

The beauty is in the dings! And you can console yourself with that thought after you smack your £4000 Rolex into a door frame!
