    Omega HS8

This watch arrived last fall and, as with most of the watches I bought in 2008, we have been recently introduced. I should have taken some Polywatch to the crystal before shooting these, but I was anxious. The provenance of the watch is excellent - it was issued to a LT Maund and the original issues strap and the box it came in is present.
    E. G. Maund was a veteran of both World Wars. During WW2, LT Maund was commissioned to the RNVR, serving as a Motor Transport Officer in Southern England and he was issued this watch during that tour of duty.

Very nice watch and nice picture !

The provenance and the box  - well done catching that.

Regarding polish or not I 've found that some watch crystals from that time doesn't respond as good on polishing as later ones. I might be far off on this, but compared to a standard crystals from the 50s my feel is that at least some of them are not hexalite. (And their not mineral either) did they make them in celluoid.

    Cheers and thanks for sharing

Outstanding, i am always intrigued by what actions the watch went through while in service.

I love these watches and the box is a real bonus. I had a Zenith deck watch which had been certified at Bradford on Avon, they tested it for almost 2 months! Of course, there were no timing machines then.

    Another one I shouldn't have sold :( .

Are you quite sure about that Eddie?
(Just looking at the timing machine procedures in the 1944 US Army watch maint. manual)

    All the best,

That means the British army would have got them in the 1960s then  .

    Nice aquisition, Colin; well done!

Slightly OT but regarding Bradford-on-Avon: I've stayed in a lovely Georgian townhouse there that offers B&B, the house was requisitioned during the Second World War, when it became the temporary home of the famous Harrison Chronometers, which were moved for safekeeping from the Royal Observatory in Greenwich.

There's an idea! Replace a 60 year old original leather with something that fits - I'm sure a nice carbon fiber strap would be the business.
